I am in my last week of work at the moment, handed in my resignation, anyway I have been totally stressed out with all the documentation and training for the person who is taking over. Anyway last night it came to a head when I just went off with the fairies while I was driving and ended up merging straight into another car... I was kicking myself afterwards I just can't seem to get a grasp on just how stupid a mistake I had made because out of the seven years I have been driving this is my first accident. I guess it could have been worse, I could have hit another Hyundai at least I took out a Honda... Insurance will cover everything but I will have to fork out a $500 excess. That's Australian dollars by the way... Sigh, I am heading off on a road trip on the 26th of Decmber and i had just had my car serviced, polished and everything and then this happens... F*** I am an idiot.

Ya when i Crashed my car (Feb 05) I felt horrible about the mistake i made and thought I wouldn't be able to afford another car or have the will to drive anymore. But overtime you'll get things back together and yes I was jobless at the time of my accident as well so I felt that I was in a financial pit too. So goodluck and just make sure you keep a cool head since you never know when a great opportunity in your life will arrise and you'll be rolling in dough again.

Thanks man that makes me feel better knowing other people have gone through the same thing and come out fine. I was on the phone to the insurance company and when the guy asked me what happen I was totally embarrased. Then they asked me if I had made any modifications to the car and I was like "ummmm no". Should I remove the SRI I installed and put the stock airbox and stuff back in? Apart from that everything else is how it was insured with bodykit, rims etc.

yes.... anything that wasnt insured to begin with, take off... anything that you can salvage if it is totalled, take it out now, but yeah, put everything back the way it was on the insurance

My car was totalled as well and I didnt claim my mods on my insurance so yes. Before they took the car away I had to spend 2hrs ripping out my stereo system and my SRI. So i suggest you do that ASAP cuz they will just end up selling it themselves.

that and you could probably make more money if you sold the rims yourself... but of course, just my .02

It won't be written off, just needs a new front bumper, headlight and side indicator. I was more worried about them seeing the SRI and trying to void my claim. Can they do that?

in a similar story, I crashed my car 2 years ago, after saving for 3 years to get the car I had always wanted. What happens? Someone basically fish tails me into lightpost. Thankfully I walked away unharmed, but my car got written off and I didnt get enough back to get a new one, plus my insurance went way up. The worst part was that the other driver drove on by and I never got a good enough look to hammer them. So, I am a former driver now with big dreams for the future!
