yup...monday i'm leaving for Sebastion (near Vero Beach) for two weeks...heading to the inlaws...they just bought a nice house and they have not seen their grandchild in awhile...and besides it was like 75-80 degrees a day ago....damn sure beats this 2 degree weather here in Pa!!

drive will be about 23 hours 1400 miles or so...one way...we'll see if we can go straight through!

81,77,75 is the way we are going...95 is too damn congested...especially around the baltimore/DC area

anyway....i cant wait!

I use to try driving the whole way without stopping. Over the years I found stopping at a hotel, especially with kids makes a BIG difference... We stop somewhere in NC or SC, I forgot... One summer trip the traffic was so bad we barely made it to NC before stopping for the night. it was 14 0r 15 hours in what usually takes less than 8.

95 can be a race way at time, when Leviathant was 17 we were going to FL. My wife & I had worked the day before & I drove to get us thru VA, I forgot where we let him drive & the two of us fell asleep when she awoke she looks over & he is doing over 85, in out minivan. (with us & his brother & sister on board)
She calmly says, errr what are you doing ?, he tells her, OH I'm just keeping up with traffic. :D She did get him to get out of the passing lane & get in the slow lane where he was only doing 70 :).
Wait till your kids are older & you have this experiance.. :) Levi did fine, but when you think of all the thing that can happen on the highway ;) , err like deer  etc....

95 does indeed suck until you get past Fredericksburg or so, but past that it's nearly always smooth sailing. How are you getting from 77 to 75? Gonna take 85 from Charlotte to Atlanta? That's kinda out of the way... If it were me I'd stay on 77 until it turns into 26 just south of Columbia, and then that hits 95 an hour north of Savannah.

I just got back from florida last night. 16 hours of driving. Took my old beater
didn't think it would make it but it did. 7 degrees in Ohio and got a high of 80
one of the days I was in florida. Jacksonville was the worse traffic I went through. Have fun............

Distance: 2,383 km (about 1 day 5 hours)

Could be worth it for a free oil change. If Gasoline were free for the drive down.

i think that is like an hour so away....i might take you up on the offer of driving a turbo elantra though!! :abovelol: if you get it done sometime soon!

i actually did the oil just before we left!! 20 degrees!!

lets see from my place i took 33,22,78,81,77,95...21 hours with the baby...not too bad!!! and yeah once i got onto 95 i was doing about 95!! there was actually a caravan made up of various vehicles and we were all just crusing!!

we were going to stop at like 3am...we left at 8pm we made it to the middle of virginia...cant remember the name of the town....but when we stopped...the attendant never came out...so we took that as a sign to keep going!! my wife is usually up with the baby (i work 70+ hrs so she lets me sleep, sometimes, LOL!) so she took over till about 5:30 then at 7:30 we stopped at a waffle house on 77 in Columbia SC (i think?) and ate...till about 9am....and pounded out SC and GA and FL!!! i think we made awsome time especially with a 6month old!! ... didnt fuss though...most just slept!

so here i am till about new years day!!
