Yes, I am starting yet another rant about hyundai products quality.

When we changed the clutch, we saw that the axles were in pretty bad shape and had a TON of loose in em after around 65k miles.

Well today I feel my tranny going wierd on me....

I'm like .... WTF what could it be... Check the oil... Almost all gone

Go underneath the car with a torch..... And what do I see. The passenger side drive axle is leaking oil

At first I thought I screwed up and maybe didn't push it in enough for the C-clip to engage... But I was playing around with it and saw that the clip itself was defective. WHAT KIND OF CLIP IS IT ANYWAYS going around only 1/2 way of the axle

So yeah, anyway, I am guessing that the clip disengages in turns and such and the goes back in.

While rotating and losing oil it sprayed gear oil all over the place, IM, swaybar, MM, frame, etc....

SCREW THIS I am just gonna go buy a new axle (or both) since they are finished already. I will checkout the aftermarket for products first because I dont feel like changing these again in another 2 years. I'm sure there should be something out there.

GODDAMN UNWANTED EXPENSES ON THIS CAR HOLY S*^& I SHOUL'VE WENT WITH THE LEGACY GT :(

TO TOP IT OFF I have to spend more money on gear oil now :(

Looks like God doesn't want me to turbo the XD and is trying everything in order for me to spend all of my money on useless repairs like these.

LOL ok I'm done ranting even though it was a weak one but i had to get the weight off of the shoulders.

wow... umm my axles were fine when i pulled them. it would have been a good idea to purchase new axle seals when you put your clutch in... not nessecary but it'd been a good idea. maybe its because of the extreme cold you get there? mine are fine and i turned it over to 70k friday.

maybe it's the cold and salt and whatnot...

I wasnt expecting them to be in such a bad shape... whatever... good thing we saw that cause with the turbo on they would've broken for sure.....

the seals are good.

the c-clip isnt.

When my Sentra drained the oil on the trans, it started making noise, and that was it. Done. If you are driving with out fluid, chances are it will be toast very soon if not already

WHEW, It's not making any unusual noises.

The only thing was that there was too much 'freeplay' and I felt that there was something wrong cause the oil, at these -15C temperatures, is a bit thicker, and makes shifting harder.

Also I had checked it out 2-3 days ago while I was getting an alinment and there was no leak.

I am not driving the car again until I fix it.

THANK GOD my mom has a fear of snow and gets a lift to her workplace everyday, only using the car on weekends. Pontiac Grand Am here I come.

Ha very nice. When I was removing my coilovers last week I had trouble getting the shock off the knuckle there so I gave it a really good yank. Yeah well my axle came out and pissed gear oil everywhere too, man I was happy. Though I dont have the troubles you are speaking of. Good luck with that man, let us know!

LOL ^^ That's actually pretty funny, thanks for the laugh :)

Although, see, that's what I mean... That clip.... It does almost nothing... Remove it once, it looks like it's removable with minimal torque....

Anyhow wish my luck, today I am making a few calls to find a new mofo.
