I'm hoping to get the Ipod video for chrismahanakwanzaka, and I need some help. I want to be able to put my own videos in itunes so I can put them on an ipod. I can download songs through kazaa, and then open them through itunes, and can also put my cd's in itunes, so is there a way to do this with videos? Any help would be appreciated...

I've read about being able to do this on digg.com -- head over there, and search for things like 'video ipod' or 'ipod videos' and you should be able to find some stories about how to put your own videos onto an iPod.

Are you converting from MPG/AVI/MOV or are you going to rip stuff off DVD/VHS?

Both. I have alot of dvd's, and also want to put music videos and funny clips on it, but don't want to pay itunes for the clips if I don't have to...

The videos they're selling on iTunes are formatted for the little screen, so whatever you use to convert should be able to resize. I'm annoyed about that in the opposite direction...I'd like to buy iTunes vids to watch n my computer, but it's not worth it if I only get to watch 1.5" out of a 17" screen.

^^ you could always get the free microsoft WMV convertor and convert it to a larger size. it retains the detail

They won't convert iTunes formatted vids and vids converted to WMV won't play in iTunes. WMV is garbage anyway lol. I had to get a WMV plugin for Quicktime so I could convert the few WMV's I had to MPEG.

Are you using a mac or a peecee? If you're using a mac I can help you out.

You need Videora Ipod Converter. Do a search. It's like a one click conversion program. The setting are already done for you to be the best for the ipod. I rip my dvd's, then use videora to convert the largest file into mpeg-4's. A full movie takes up about 850 MB. Good stuff.

I'm on a Mac.

I find it hard to believe that you can convert from iPod size to monitor size with no loss. I'm not going to pay for anything if I'm going to lose quality (though I might borrow ;) ).

My brother in law downloaded a free clip (A Lazy Sunday from SNL) and played it full-screen on his laptop.... looked pretty good.

I just did the same thing. It's not DVD-quality, but it's easily TV-quality. Amazing. If this is Apple's answer to WMV, Apple wins. Hands down.

Now I just need to get some software to strip the protection so I can burn it to DVD and watch it on my TV.
