I was just wondering if it would be practical to scuff up the oem trunk garnish and paint it chrome myself. Has anyone tried this? Does anyone have any advice regarding doing this or why I should/shouldn't? Thanks.

Well because those "chrome" spray cans you buy don't produce a chrome, but rather a shiney silver.

If you really want to "chrome" something you have to DIP in in the chrome solution...which you have to bring it to a special shop to do it blah blah...etc etc. :)

well, the spray will be good enough for custom letters on the back anyways, i'll just keep my eyes open for a dipped garnish, thanks

im curious, but what all is available for chrome on the exterior?
i know about:
-chrome door handles
-chrome trunk garnish
-chrome wipers (yuck!)
-chrome mirrors (not my style)
-chrome grille

i'm not too big on chrome everywhere, but it adds a little something to the look and sleekness here and there

EDIT- I didnt know you were talking about the outside piece, i thought you meants the black piece when you open the trunk.

It would look good chrome on a black car, but i dont like chrome so i wouldent get it.

ya know I can't see the trunk garnish any color but chrome, flat black, or the cars body color.

i just thought... on a black car... that it would look nice chrome, i don't have a problem with it being the car's color.

I would just buy the trunk garnish from kspec or dreamka4u. I have one on my silver xd and its really nice. and would like even better on a black car. It shines really nice when its clean the pic was taken before I washed my car but you get the idea.

Is that chrome trunk garnish a cover over piece? or a full replacement of the original one? I ask this because i have an XD2 and the only one i have seen is a thin piece that sticks on with double sided tape, this has a oval hole so the "crooked H" can be seen however it doesnt cover all the origional colour of the trunk garnish piece.

Ill try to find this pic.....

It's a full replacement and they don't make it for the XD2s.
