nice now what will it cost and specs of the muffler as far as diameter and also is it all mandrel bent and also, and is it me or is it angled
GodisintheTV
12-30-2005, 05:07 PM
you can see in the pics that its mandrel bent and angled dude. looks nice, a little low but really nice.
no silencer? :(, it looks like it has a resonator though. what are the gains?

he also meant to say "but thank you for taking the time to make products for us elantra owners that no one else will"
:)
at least ill say it. not my cup of tea, but im glad someone is making products for us so we have more options.

yeah.. i'd want a higher mount as well. if the pipes can be purchased separately that would be cool too.. cuz then you can get your own muffler and have it tip down and not have to cut the bumper

we may take pipes & rasonator arligment. But rear end muffler stays lower because elantra hanger position & bumper. if we put closer to bumer, it will burn or melt your bumper. And it is angled exhaust system. And gains about 7 to 10hp power.

Great Looking Exhaust But way to Low for Elantra Drivers In minnesota that have Lowering Kits so I'm out, But its great Elantra's are starting to pick up more speed in the Aftermarket scene
It dont look too hateful.Im not sure about the muffler hanging that low,at least there is a company that is willing to make stuff for our cars and I applaud you guys.
Note- You put this thread in the wrong place :P

i'm with evan on this one. thought the muffler hanging under the bumper from other productino cat-back was bad?? this is even worse imo. but hey it's just me. and even though i personally don't like it, i'm still happy that we have another option available now. thanks ark.

my muffler hits the bumper, and after almost 2 years, i have very minimal melting. VERY minimal. about as wide as both my thumbs together, and about 1/3" tall. enough i just cut it away w/ a razor blade, and you cant tell
if youre concerned about it hanging low, take it to a muffler shop, and have them bend the hangers to lift it, or reweld new hangers. its nothing major they cant fix
after looking at this exhaust,it kinda looks like the kit for the gk tiburon.i seen the gk exhaust from ark and it looks nice.im not too woried about the bumper melting, because mine has melted a little from my current exhaust.

I'll say the same as alot of other members said.. It looks good but the muffler is to close to the ground, that elantra in the pic isnt lowered, now picture that muffler on my car thats 2 inches closer to the ground then that elantra. This muffler would work if you want to cut your bumper but I wont do that, I did that to my old elantra (01 GLS) and when I went back to a stock muffler there was a hole in my bumper and it looked bad.

Very Nice but why cant it just be straight, I hate that Eclipse side look muffler. People would not mind Cutting the Bumper for a cleaner Look. Also does it have a silencer? I have headers and it would be loud as ****

ilan, it has a resonator so I don't think it'll be TOO loud...
and people, stop complaining about not having to cut the bumper...
It's a DIRECT BOLT ON.
You guys complain because they claim it's bolt on but them you have to cut/adjust/fit??
WELL BE HAPPY DAMNIT!

It is not to loud. We had Db test and road sound test.
Mostly Idle is much quieter than OEM which is 65 ~ 68 dbs
3000RPM sound : 87 to 93Dbs
Inside accelaration Decibel: 82 ~ 85 dbs
So it reasonable sound & deep.
We also looking for some changes like a muffler size, angle, tip size... But we're more concerning about touching bumper with muffler... Which Korean spec does not match with US spec.
Wish us luck with development ~~
Thanks...

did I miss it or what?is there a price on this yet?

ARK,
When you offer this to us, can you offer it at an introductory price.
Even if you don't, put my name at the top of the list in the Number 1 position. I want it, I want it bad. That is the best looking bolt on I've seen yet for our cars. Through research of my own, I find that straight through mufflers don't yeild a whole lot of hp. But, the size of the piping I see and the fact that it has an adequately sized resonator, I'm willing to go for it.
Unfortunately, though, I will modify the hanger just a bit, but you didn't hear that from me.
Put me in the Number 1 spot, and let me know when you want money, and I'll send it ASAP. Thanks guys for all your hardwork in pioneering products for the XD and XD2 Elantras.

i kind of like it and if i get it ill probobly bend my hangers too so it sits higher and ill cut my bumper a bit too. cause ill be lowering my car and i dont want to take the risk of it catching on the ground and ripping off or getting really banged up. but i like it. i dont mind the angle you can just have an exhaust with pipping that big run like the stock exhaust since you have to run it diff and stuff i guess. but yea. yay for ark there making for stuff for our cars.

Looks nice but very wooried bout putting on a lowered car.
Spend all that money only to scrap it up. NO NO NO
Maybe offer two types of mufflers? One for a lowered XD.

12-30-2005, 11:44 PM
you guys who lower your car act like this thing is going to be draging on the ground....
ive had my evofusion exhaust and my car lowered for over a year now. im not saying it hasnt scraped, but you will learn how to get into driveways at somewhat of an angle to keep it from happening. its like saying "i dont want to lower my car so i dont bottom out the front end"...ive bottomed my front end WAY more than my exhaust. as long as you are careful, you will not need to bend the hangers or cut the bumper, unless you think youre not smart enough to have it lowered
I think it looks ok. I would get it if i was concerned for perfomance, but im happy with just my new muffler. What's interesting is that i've scraped mine once, but that was because I live in PA and I was going pretty fast. So that thing would be scraped to hell out here. But kudo's for another option ARK!

Ted I'm very happy to have the opportunity to help you. And again, thank you very much for the compensation! The exhaust really is nice and definately a head-turner. I got a few looks this evening from people that didn't expect a deep sound like this out of an elantra. =) And to add to that it really pisses off the honda guys with their bees in a can exhausts. =)
While I don't have dyno results to show the gains I do feel like 8 - 10 hp is an accurate expectation to gain.
As far as my personal plans for my car, I don't think it looks any more ricey than anything else out there...after all it IS and IMPORT! =) But I have no intentions on putting on shopping cart spoilers like some here plan on doing. hehe
Anyway, if there's anyone in SoCal that's interested in the exhaust, as I said before, I am willing to do a show and tell with it. If there's a group of people that would like to, then perhaps we can all get together at the same time or something.

Thanks Redscorp. Here is another project of ARK R&D team developing header for Tiburon 2.0L. I guess they have same fitting as Elantra.... any idea?
i think the 1.8L tib headers fit the elantra, but don't quote me on that :)

That thing is LOUD especially cuz it has no silencer, resonator or not its LOUD. The bolt on idea is sweet but I would put a muffler with a silencer on it.

yes the 1.8L headers are a direct swap i gots them on my XD. but as far as the GK beta headers, i wouldnt know.

2.0 GK headers do fit, and contrary to belief, the midpipe w/ the cat/flex is the same. i just picked up some KEY motorsports headers from a 2.0 GK owner who welded his stock midpipe to the header, and it fits my elantra like a glove. when we were looking into the midpipes, it seemed that the tib midpipe had a little more bend to it and was a tad longer. theyre all the same. if you can produce something similar to the key headers for a reasonable price, you will definately see sales. i dont think a lot of people want to pay 3-400$ for a header, but if you make the gains worth it (like these key headers) they will come. i wish i did a before/after dyno when i put these in a couple weeks ago, but i can say these headers easily gave me 8 hp, probably more. theyre that good. i can run thru 1st gear, and spin the tires @ 4500rpms on a dry road.

I live in Azusa which is about 30 minutes east of LA. My g/f lives up in Santa Clarita (Magic Mountain area). So, if you're somewhere in the area sure. If not then perhaps we find something in between? The more people you can gather to bring as a group and see it would be good too. Could we possibly set up a SoCal. meet or something? I know we have at least a few members on here located in SoCal.

redscorp, that would be pretty cool. but we should talk about that in south west section. i have ef catback so it'll be a nice comparison... though mine is quite banged up.
anyways, headers would be a good product to develop after catback. and all those who said they would move their mufflers up a bit afterwards, depending on the price, you might as well look into custom cat-back from your local shops. imho, if you are gonna pay big bucks to have a bolt-on, it should be just that, bolt-on. anyways, i guess it all depends on the price. so any idea ark? just a range maybe??

Yes. most our single system MSRP price is $ 500 ~ 600.00.
But our list price will be about $ 400 ~ 450.00 , But we need to figure more about cost... Thanks
$400 sounds a lot better to me than $600 lol.
