Well, I was not going to end up going as far as I did but after trying to get the flat paint off to see if chrome would be underneathe...surprising enough there was no chrome under the paint, just black plastic. Well since the grill look like *** I dicided to do some cutting and fiberglass to it. It did not come out to bad, I have some touch up still on the top where I put fiberglass, but all in all it will do. I thinking of purchasing a different one maybe later on but for now I will use what I have made. Hope you like!
Cheers,
J-son

The process of what I did:

Removed screw from the circled areas

Inside of the grill screws cirlced areas

This is what the grill attaches to.

I basically cut the entire center of the grill out. I use a jig saw and a small hand saw for tighter areas. Sanded the cut edges and then applied the rain gutter material for the mesh look. I use zip ties to hold the mesh in place to get an acurate fit and then glued with Gorilla Glue. This glue is some good ****.

Test fitting before fiberglassing:

I put fiberglass on the top of the grill to give it a little more support for the mesh and help give it a more professional look. I used primer and then painted it flat black to have it match the hood piece as close as possible.

Some picture of the finished project. Like I said above, I have some more sanding still to do to get thing smoothed out.

though you could see the rough edges in the last 2 pics, it still looks pretty damn good for a DYI and not like anyone is gonna notice. looks simple and clean. great job.

I wish I had the cojones to do that to my grill but if I mess it up I'd be p.o'ed. Great work; looks fantastic. I think the whole thing is DIY-worthy, especially marking the screw locations. I figured that out but knowing ahead of time would have helped.

when i did this it was the first time i ever tried this type of mod. I just read the directions on the back of the can of fiber glass. also the past three issues of car and audio have some great info on this. if you would like I can find some one with a scanner and have them sent to you by email. just let me know. hyundaituner@gmail.com I might also make them a link on here for others to read so they would not have to find the prev issues.
cheers

Plenty of space for lights. I guess I could help. Not a pro but would try my best.
