hmmmm hopefully you'll get our sets in soon rob :)

how does the quality and fit look like, boys?

More of the same, just updating to let peeps know I received the product today.

EDIT: Kewl the quality and fit are identical to the white-faced ones. I'm not just saying that, I'm actually looking at the two side-by-side right now. The black-faced ones look AWSOME though! The red accents actually look RED, not pinkish like the white ones! Can't wait to get these in...just gotta hope for a warmer day soon!

EDIT #2: For those getting ready to install, as a reminder it's a good idea to take some rubbing alcohol and a terry towel and wipe down the HVAC unit where these will bond too. Especially if you had the white ones on, and I'm sure there is some adhesive residue left over. And if you messed up some of the tapers (I think we all did), then here is your second chance!

damn, still no email, call or notification for the canadian guys. I haven't got anything in yet either, I'm not a huge fan of the states, but this is one instant that I would prefer to live there!

F*(*CK!@:#KJ:@#$.. didn't wipe mine down :(. Oh well.. should be good. I had some fitment issues with the center one (the one w/ the #s on there).. any of you guys have that? Also I wasn't too impressed with the quality on this thing.. I guess its just the way they design the smaller ones but i'm not sure. Anyways.. somehow I dimmed out my green buttons so it looks even better :P

BTW, if you guys wire this to the cig lighter, pink is the one that has power when you turn the lights on :)

would it be ok for me to run this from the cigarette lighter if I'm already running power from it to the other gauges?

I slept in late this morning, and I'm running late for school. I will post pics as soon as I get back today. I do not have my white-faced ones anymore though, as I threw those out last night after the side-by-side comparison. Pics of the new ones around 5pm, unless someone beats me to it?!

Are these even dimmable or is it a constant brightness?

Constant brightness.. it didn't come with a dimmer switch like the Reverse Glow ones do for the speedo/tach

ilanpro
03-24-2006, 02:39 PM
you can put it to the car dimmer

I planned on it even if it didn't have a dimmer. I just need to wire the gauges to the stock dimmer to complete the setup. Hopefully it won't overload the dimmer. Any idea on how much current these gauges draw or how much current the stock dimmer can handle?

The Indiglos have little current untill the step up transformer

speaking of the dimmer.. when i hooked up the gauges im not sure wtf i did but the AC, rear window defroster, and circulation buttons don't light up as bright anymore. I'm thinking i may have blown a bulb but not sure. any clues? I doubt i'd fix it.. but i just want to know whats wrong in case it causes problems down the line. thanks!

Pics as promised, just laying there. Like I said before, these are not installed yet, I have to wait for a warmer day. You can hopefully get a good idea of the black now and how dark it really is. Oh, the edges on these are fine, the pics make them seem damaged, but that is just dust.

Let me know how bad the install goes.. i'm kind of disappointed with the way it turned out because of that center one

what's wrong with the center one?

I'm assuming it's an issue with the taper. You can tell by the pics that I posted that you must really curve the center (level indicator) overlay before trying to put it on, otherwise you run the risk of leaving a gap. I think this is what happened to Paki. It can get hard trying to hold it with one hand and put it on with the other, then your fingers always get in the way, and they don't just let go...you have to pry them away cause you probably got some adhesive on them lol. That's what happened when I put my white ones on, which is what caused the gap.

^ thats what happened

no chance for an easy fix.. is there? i wont be taking these off.. so would it be safe to take it off and superglue it down the 2nd time?

yeah, I got 2. Still sucks though, I'm growing weary of paying duty so often and such large amounts sometimes. As my dad would say, they are skating on thin ice, although I don't know if it really works to threaten the border people.

like i said in an earlier post.. i'm really not sure why my original green lighting doesn't show up (AC, Circulate, Rear Defroster buttons)... but i think it looks better with them not so bright :)
