lol i thought u got spinning wheels and ur rims were just spinning real fast so that it looks smoooth
now i look at it closely, its pretty innovative
i've never seen nutting like that, if u like the "smooth" look, go for it

Yeah, the hubcaps aren't my thing. Would look better with the stock units until you had money for some rims. Other than that it looks good. I'd recommend some KDM headlights and maybe a high spoiler(OEM). Some light tint would do wonders for achieving a smooth look as well. Oh, OEM foglights, too.

they ruin your car, I think the steelies look better then those things. Take them off be4 I find out where you live and take them off for you.

Not my cup of tea, but if you like them, I say leave them. Just because they're not the usual rims that people on this site all go for, doesn't mean that they aren't nice, or that someone doesn't like them. It's the most original wheel on the site that I've seen, which is hard to do with so many thousands of wheels that all essentially look the same in the end.
Keep up the good work

I'm just trying to steer away from the typical "look" that everyone's going with these days. most of the cars I see around look like a cheap econo car with nice rims... lame in my oppinion. not down with the spoilers and ricy rims that everyone's got. I can't even go to the store without someone commenting on my wheels.. good and bad. Any yes, they are the old bonnaville disks by mooneyes from back in the day.

now if you got some low profile tires i might be able to rock that around town.

Wont the breaks get to hot cuz there not being vented that well?
alienman
01-09-2006, 09:17 PM
get some super low profile tires, lower the car and then paint the hubcaps to match the car... now that would look SUPER SMOOTH
just my thoughts...

Maybe, if he enters his car in a Grand Prix race or something similar. Just driving around town or even hauling *** down some twisties won't heat the breaks up enough.

Very innovative, and definitely a personal and unusual touch.
But, where the hell did you find those. I thought them to be very few and far between.
I'm with the others though, low pro tires and maybe a paint job to match your car.
Happy modding...

I for one like 'em. Where on earth did ya get them? I love your grill too.... I keep thinking I need to do something like that.

honest? those have to be the ugliest hubcaps i have ever seen in my life. ever. first thing i thought of when i saw those was the buick w/ the jackhammer on pimp my ride, and it was super ugly.
and i just threw up in my mouth

Aren't those the UFO's used in Ed Wood's Plan 9 from Outer Space?
Oh wait, those were trash can lids.
You could sell advertising space on those suckers :phone:
I dunno, i dont like the hubs at all. Other then that, i think it looks good so far!

I kind of wish they were flat. I like "solids," wheels that are mostly solid, but they need to be flat.

For those asking, you can get the caps on eBay for like $60 any time you want them.
No, you don't have to worry about them venting your brakes. You get air from the other side, and if you're not sliding down the side of hill for a quarter mile at a time, your brakes will be fine. If you are, you have other issues. It wasn't that long ago that all hubcaps completely covered the wheel and steelies didn't even have holes in them
http://cherry-auto.proxsoft.com/images/silver_steel_wheel_4.jpg
I'm not sure I care for the look of the caps with the blue, but I'm willing to bet they're a lot more attractive in person than in the pix. You might try shooting them when there's less sun to reflect on them. I am glad you posted them, though. I've been thinking of getting a set for my car for a long time now. I think they'll look good with the "Champagne" colored car.
I'm with you on the idea about rims. I can't think of a bigger waste of my money. I'll take a nice set of caps any day.

I like them, they're unique and much more appealing than stock hubcaps.
I also really like your grill job, a LOT more than the previous version! Gonna let us in on the secret?? Mine is starting to chip a bit so I can see the chrome underneath, but what did you use?
The lip spoiler also looks good.
Finally, tint, Tint, TINT!!!! :D
XavanteX
01-09-2006, 11:31 PM
TINT... YES! that's hopefully gonna get done next week at the dealership. One of the reasons that I went with hubcaps and not rims is so I wouldn't have to use lo-pro tires, they have horrible ride quality and my lowered suspension with larger swaybars would have made for quite a bumpy ride. the hubcaps aren't really that shinny in person, they are a brushed aluminum with clear powder coat. These aren't the ebay one's though, but the one's sold by Mooneyes. I was thinking about painting them body color but decided that would be a little over-kill on the blue. As for the grill, just a lot of aircraft grade paint stripper and a LOT of elbo grease.

01-09-2006, 11:39 PM
why not stick w/ a nice set of 15" wheels, and use stock size or close to stock size tires? i have 15" oz wheels, with 205/55 tires, ride quality is just as good, but because the wheels are so lightweight, its less sprung weight, which shaves some time of a 1/4 mile. and they look damn good

01-09-2006, 11:39 PM
I take it back, the more I look at the pics, the more I like it with the blue. And the more I'm sure I'll like them on mine.
Did you PhotoShop the 'H' into your grill in those pics? It doesn't look right to me somehow...

Im sorry but there are plenty of other hubcaps that id rather put on my car then those. Why dont you invest is a sharp set of 15 inch wheels?

I'm thinking of chroming my grill; at least the outside fram of it, and maybe the horizontals. I think the verticals can stay black. On the other hand, if I start stripping, I might not be able to stop, so I need to convince myself *all chrome* is okay before I start.
looks like ****, u wanted the honest truth so.. that should be out in the desert on a 200mph speed breaker

Yeah... not good aesthetically or functionally in my opinion.

It's just that rims are such commonplace now days. it's a very expensive upgrade that provides absolutely no performance value to your car just so you can look like every other econo-sedan tryin to be a tuner. sometimes it's more fun taking the road less traveled... just to be differant. the pics of the grill are not photoshopped. I started out just wanting to have the horizontal parts chrome, but it was harder than I thought so the whole thing got done.

01-10-2006, 09:20 AM
^^^Kinda what I was thinking... although they do not look 'the best' IMO, it's nice to see something different than a 5/7 spoke 'tuner' wheel on the car.
DAILLESTWUN
01-10-2006, 09:49 AM
IMHO, I think they look horrible. If anyone here in Miami was to have those, I think they would be laughed at to the millionth power times 20...lol I know it's not about what other people think, it's about what you like, so if you like them do ya thang. And BTW, we are being different, we modify Hyundai's. If we were being like everyone else and unoriginal then this would be a civic forum....think about that one.

ONLY if the centercaps are missing, and ONLY if you can only find three matched and make the 4th an unbalanced K-mart spinner cap. THEN you will have achieved cool, my son.

maybe if you painted them the same color as your car, or black like the ones on night rider.

A least the price isn't bad considering that they're stainless steel. They might be just the thing for my winter wheels & snows where brake heat would never be an issue. You certainly don't have to worry about snow and ice building up in/on them!
