Does this happen to anyone else?

At least 1 - 2x a day I will come to EXD and click on the "new posts" link on the homepage, only to get a screen saying no results found. There have been posts, as it says (like a minute ago) New Posts: 17. I click on that, and it says "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms." Then I click the "forums" link and everything is marked as read, although I haven't read them yet. It has happened to me on 3 different computers (work, home, laptop) with different ISPs so I don't think it's me.

happens to me all the time, its annoying. dont know why it happens. makes me feel like im gonna miss out on something lol

Probably once or so a day I get that too ... it stinks cuz I am really lazy and almost never surf the forums by themselves. I almost always just clink on new posts to see what's happening.

For me it happens on 2 machines home and my work/home laptop and on about 5 different browers between the 2 of 'em

I don't think this has happened to me.

I can see how it would happen if you:
1) launch ElantraXD
2) click new posts
3) read a couple of threads
4) click back a few times to get back to the home page (this page may then be a cached copy of the page as it was downloaded in step 1 so it'll show a new post count that's now inaccurate)
5) click new posts
6) then it may say that there are no results found

If it happens under another circumstance, either your browser or proxy server is caching too persistently or there's a bug in vbulletin.

It happens immediately on loading EXD. Not the way you outlined above. Come to EXD, immediately click new posts and whammo - error.

I've had that happen, but I think it's got something to do with me being logged in on multiple computers. I believe if you get logged out, it clears your cookies or something like that. I don't know. It doesn't happen to me anymore, so I stopped investigating it.

Yes, happens to me as well...I also believe it has to do with logging on with different computers, because it didn't start happening to me until I started logging on at work.

That's plausible. I guess I don't normally stay logged in at multiple computers.

Although that sounds possible, I don't think that's it. I can visit the site from the same computer here and have it be fine, not use any other computer, come back to the site with the same cpu I used before, 1/2 an hour later, and have it happen. I don't have this happen on any of the other vBulletin sites I visit, which is what makes me think there is actually something wrong here.

Hmm, I don't actually use the New Posts button, so I don't know.

Mike, what versions of vB are the other sites using? We are not running the current version here (simply because updates are complicated and I need to also reload various hacks (like the no quick reposts, dual navbar, etc)).

Oh, the New Posts button is king! But I hate when I only have a couple spare minutes and only get to read one or two posts, close the window, come back, and all of the posts I didn't read before are gone... forever. Haha.

James, it looks like the other ones I checked are running 3.5.0 and above. It doesn't say at the bottom which version EXD is using?

I see, we haven't made the jump from 3.0.X to 3.5.X yet. Maybe if I can identify that 3.5.X fixing this problem of yours I will do the upgrade.

Not that it's exactly relatated, but one thing I noticed about the View New Post option is that it never has the Poll for COTM. I've seen Nomination threads show up there, but when it comes time for the poll, Nothing. Then I see a Congrats to xxxxxxxx for COTM a week later or so.

I use the new posts link, but the problem is if I leave it sit, I loose the posts. That and if I let it sit on the main elantraxd.com screen, then the new posts dont work.

That's the thing, it never shows up as a new Post at all. I always miss them, I've been keeping my eye out for them for the past few months and keep missing them. Now I feel like maybe I'm not seeing every thread, as I missed the update to this one until I manually went looking for it.
