okay... got the s/c on... (that was a friggen adventure worth another thread) cruise control useless because cable is too short to reach throttle body assembly (apparently fordfaster got a special blower unit where it has an extra few inches on the throttle body mount)...

belt is long so tensioner is at full extension.... squeaks/ chirps from belt/ power steering pump pulley....so I adjust the tensioner.... squeak goes away at idle but comes back with a vengance at speed when in the throttle....adjust it again... this time it only chirps at idle and is quiet at speed....okay I can deal with that so I drive it to work and to do some errands...as the car warms up and I drive it longer the chirping comes back....this time when I throttle... DAMNIT....

asked alpine to oder me a new belt.... one I am using is the one Fordfaster had...two weeks no belt... called them... they can't seem to locate belt... so I ask what the part number is for the belt, turns out the part number for the belt is for a six rib belt... they dont make belts in four rib configuration that are long enuff..... so i call them and ask how to go about getting a belt to be four rib... they say cut two ribs off... HOW GHETTO!! okay so I cut the belt... hopefully that goes on and eliminates the chirp squeak with its newness and shorter length....

at the same time I had the s/c installed I also had a hayden cooler installed which was one size larger than the one recommended by everyone...(supplier sent wrong one after first one got lost in shipping)... now when I drive the car and my auto revs to about 3500rpms in third gear with my foot steady at the same position the car bogs and the engine rpms drop a few hundred before resuming their upward climb.... it actually sounds like the engine slows down for some reason....so I don't know if it has to do with the finnicky tranny fluid level or something else.... (used spIII so thats not the issue)

i'm hoping the new belt will solve this issue also....

now I've known my brakes were warped for some time so on my birthday I ordered EBC greenstuff pads and EBC Sport dimpled and slotted rotors...from partsandaccesories.com...assuming i'd be able to get them installed the same time I got my s/c put in.... NOPE.... I also ordered Rotora SS brake lines over at newtiburon.com they came in within a week of ordering them... but of my rotors and pad order, all I have to show for that is a credit card bill and a set of rear greenstuff pads (which Coincidentally also fit the 240sx) Call the customer service # (not a 1-800)and can never get through... they have a "live CS via Chat" and do that every other day... get told the same thing "please allow 10-14 days for shipping as item is being shipped from manufacturer".... I say to them stop telling me the same BS line every time.... tell me something I DON'T KNOW.... they tell me I can get a refund... I DON'T WANT NO STINKIN REFUND I WANT MY PARTS!@!!! email anyone and everyone who lists those part #'s
summitracing charges about $30 more just for the front pads and does not carry their rotors...

ebay guy has the pads but rotors are a special order item... WHY THE HELL DO YOU HAVE AN AUCTION FOR AN ITEM YOU DON'T HAVE!!!
perfectbrakes.com has the pads but the rotors are a 3-4 week item (special order) WTF!!!!
mind you I've been billed and have paid my CC company for these items its been since DEC 4th when I ordered these parts....
i'm almost about to ask to see if the other overseas dealers have them in stock which I doubt...
tried to contact EBC and all they have is a sales email account... sent them two emails... don't think I'll hear anything from them....

Ordered a Apex-i I monitor from optauto.com (options auto salon JDM specialists) cousin orders from them all the time...christmas eve.... receive an email saying the item is not in stock and is backordered... hell I can't even find anyone else who sells it... supposedly its a brand new obdII 1420 compatible display that can tell you all different sensor readings so I would not need 15 gauges.... yaay....what good is it when I DON'T HAVE IT....
call them and am told apexi is closed for the week of christmas-new years... okay... call them after that... they are to be getting a shipment of apexi in early last week... hell I am gonna call them again RIGHT NOW.....
at least they did not bill me yet... I don't think... I don't even know anymore...soo many charges to my cc... my last 2 paychecks basically gone to my cc.. lol sad....i've been living on ramen and white rice... sheesh...

I could go on and on but thats about all I can take right now.....

holy smokes !

I don't know why the belt doesn't fit your car when it fit mine perfectly...

I assume that you installed the a/c spacer kit right , that should help to tighten up the belt ?

I never had to bottom out the tensioner, even with the longer belt that I originally had from alpine...

As far as your brake dillema goes... I've told everybody.. tib brake upgrade is the #1 solution.. (unless you have gt wheels since they won't fit)......

man.. I wish you lived next door so I could take a look at your setup in person........

=(

Let it be known that thoo3g did not buy the s/c kit from me.. he bought it from the guy who I originally sold it to...... I don't think that guy had any of the problems with the belts that you are having, but I could be wrong.......

i dont think he had any problems but he hasn't been much help as he wasn't the one who installed it on his car... you on the other hand have been a godsend... the times i've asked you about random tidbits about the belt and noises you have always been able to give good advice... along with dmdicks, rickna and the others from nt.com
i'm just really irked about the belt being a custom belt and not widely avaliable.... i had to cut one up myself to make one....why didnt they work with regular off the shelf parts...
thought about what it would take to get wider pulleys... dunno

i'm about ready to rip it all off and order the turbo from alpine... no belt to deal with= no headaches...just dont like the manifold design....

for those of you wondering how it sounds...
start it up cold and it sounds like a vacuum cleaner x10
warm it up and the vacuum noise goes away....
ease into the throttle 10 percent and its still a normal sounding xd just a little more mechanical though...
after that the blower sounds almost exactly like the alpine v6 unit...i've gotten the gauge up to about six psi (SRI/straight throttle body, stock exaust) have not pushed it further than that b/c I want my apexi unit to monitor stuff and the belt issue...

i'm trying real hard not to post up a fs for the s/c i like it i really do..... just that I wish they used normal everyday parts.... and had someone in the ny area I could take it to to get it all sorted out...

you can get the belt from any goodyear dealer.

they might have to order it. Alpine does not manufacture belts.. lol, so that belt is available to you .... just try harder to find it !

goodyear does not make a belt that is 65 or so inches long that is only 4 ribs wide...the closest thing is a six rib gatorback...i had to go to autozone which had 1 of those.. had to take it home and take an exacto knife to it.... which automatically means no gaurantee from manufacturer....if there was one... so every time i need a new belt i'm going to have to go macgyver...

part number for current belt is 6pk 1650 (4060650) which corresponds to a six rib belt that is approx 65 inches long...belt in kit is a four rib belt...

my apexi gauge is apparently yet to be released......
I also called the store for the rotors and pads... about two dozen times... got no answer at all....went online to that chat thing.. nothing new to know... got angry with the chat sales guy/ gal....who gave me a line to call... called it... a few dozen times... disconnected each time... ARGHHH!!!

Is it possible to mount the 6-rib belt using the inner 4 ribs leaving 1 rib on either side or do those ribs get in the way?

How about an 8 rib belt that you can cut in half, so at least you get 2 out of the deal?

latest news... F#CK partsandaccesories.com......
I got an email from them saying my payment had been refunded....wtf... I never asked for a refund.... so I call them and the CS lady tells me that EBC cancelled the order.... whoopty sh*t okay... yeah right..... a company that does business is not going to cancel an order for product without impetus....so 2 moths of waiting and only receive rear pads... whatever...upon reviewing the boards here I decided to give AJusa a try... rotors are not listed so I call them and ask about the avaliability of the rotors... by part #.... they are in the system but not in stock... ask how long... 3-4 weeks... okay let me sit on that thought... decide to order place order online using part #'s( Rotors not listed for elantra but they are there for tiburon)... get billed... and yesterday I get notification that order was SHIPPED.... woohooo.... wait... how much of the order was shipped... look at tracking from fedex... package is 45 POUNDS.... so hopefully its 4 rotors and front pads....cause front pads dont weigh 45 pounds....
