Well, I didn't see a post over here yet, so I'm gonna bring one over here...
I noticed on nt.com that monkman said the person who bought the kit was on either nt.com or xd.com...
Here's the thread:

I will post a copy of the NT.com post in here..give me a sec..
That's RIGHT Ladies and Gents! The first public production GUDE Hyundai Turbo Kit has been purchased and is being produced as we speak (maybe not on the weekends and after 5pm though).
Whom is this lucky one to be the first purchaser of this Gorgeus Piece of work?
You may have guessed it...but....
I'M NOT TELLING YET!!
We are currently planning on a two week turnaround time before installation and tuning. The "Mystery Buyer" (hereafter referred to as MB) is one of Us (NT.com or XD.com) afterall, so be wary, a soon-to-be-turboed Tiburon walks amidst our unknowing horde!
Who is this MB? When will s/he surface? Why did s/he choose the GUDE kit? These are all things that will be found along the way....
So Prepare NT.com & XD.com, the first GUDE Turbo Hyundai will be among you soon!
edit - and it's NOT me.
and lab...you seem obsessed with this, I know you are pissed I wont tell you but dude...how many people are you going to interrogate! ;)
lol, thats great that someone finally bought the kit. what its 220 bhp right?

The Hyundai Gude kit is featured in SuperStreet magazine.
I'm pretty sure to get in there the company must be trustworthy.

What do you want to know? Flux is just a distributor and GUDE might be able to answer product questions better. If you really want to contact Flux go over to nt.com and pm monkman they are they same person.

Which email account did you send to. I only recently got everything working perfectly. I was having some issues with my account up untill recently. I will go through and see what I can find, I was almost positive that I sent a response to every email.
I am just starting to make more rounds here at EXD, I will be glad to answer any questions you have regarding the kit. Plus, once everyone knows who the buyer is, there will be ALOT more information available.
And for the records, the purchaser has already paid for the turbo kit. they are getting a BOV with it and it is due to be shipped out soon. I will get a final update from GUDE on it this week.
If anyone has any questions, I will be happy to answer them. I apologize about any unanswered emails. I will go through everything I can find and respond to any that i dont have records of responding to. My apologies.
Just curious, does anyone here know who the buyer of the turbo kit is?
:kick: just tell us :)

Personally, I would take a GUDE manifold over an SSA, but if price is an issue and you are only looking for a manifold, I would honestly say go by which is cheaper.
The GUDE manifold alone runs 400 dollars plus shipping.
The price would come down on a group purchase.

Hey Nathan
I am seriously interested in getting GUDE kit but only thing holding me back at moment is deciding whether it is worth it to me
As GUDE quoted me 3650 with shipping to Australia that translates to around 5040AUD
Then there's the customs i would need to pay on top of this when it gets here
Not sure what there rate is but prob at least 20% import taxes and 10% GST
So this could easily go up over 6500AUD before i get into my lil hands
This is why i asked you about the manifold only as might be easier (well cheaper) for me to source the same parts over here for conversion
I have a proposition for you
If you can get me a GUDE kit for a price that doesn't give me heartburn by the time it reaches me here after everything is payed then you'll have another GUDE kit sold :D

Well people,
The kit should be here Friday, it was suppose to be here this weekend but got delayed in the chroming process of the piping/manifold...
I would like to say however, nt.com people were trying to figure out who, I made it pretty damn clear who it was, even told people over there... and they still couldn't figure it out... which I find kinda funny... xd.com has some smarter people, lol...
What'll be running once I get everything:
GUDE Turbo Kit w/Blitz bov
Valeo VHR 350hp Clutch
Turbosmart Manual Boost Controller
*Apexi S-AFC
*3" Single Outlet Exhaust (Custom)
*B&M Short Shifter
*Nology Hot Wires
*NGK V-Power Plugs
*EvoFusion BBTB
*Carex Front Strut Bar
*Enkei Rs7 Wheels
* = I already have on the car.
Basically all that above and then some other things that are in my sig... Also gonna try to pick up some Eibach springs and lower the car... As well I have some 16" wheels with drag radials that I'll be getting in, in two paychecks... hehe...
After all that is said and done and running good, I'll be buying some Forged TLilly 8.5:1 Pistons from Kspec then upping the boost slightly, then I'll be saving up for a Kaaz LSD, then I'll up the boost again...

I guarantee the manifolds are better then the cheap OBX manifolds SSautochrome sell.

hope your not directing that to me, cause I know I bought it... lol...
and I just checked again, wasn't sent out today, so I'm hoping it goes out tomorrow... either way because it wasn't sent out today I wont get it till next monday which ticks me off cause thats delaying the install another week since I work during the week...
Update:
Piping is back from getting chromed, but another fking delay in the kit, the intercooler was made by another company, appearently they made a intercooler for a focus, not a tiburon, so now they gotta make a new intercooler...

So I guess this means you will be the first one to have a running and actually tuned Gude turbo kit on a Hyundai? From my understanding they never really had the car they made for Hyundai actually running correctly. Do you have a good dyno/tuner who will be helping you set it up to run right?
No surprise the intercooler and pipes are taking so long seeing as they don't have any actual kits made with the exception of the one-off they did for Hyundai and now yours. The other thing to consider is that there could be a delay at Gude but they are just using the intercooler mix up from the supplier to buy more time. That is a very easy way to take the blame off of them for the delay.
When I was going to do a head kit with them I found out that they are real careful about covering thier butt when it comes to what the car will actually make for power. He even said if it does not work right I could send the head and cams back to him for more work. WTF is that. Sure let me experiment with my car for you and then when it does not work right take it apart again for you? No thank you I said. To top that off he did not even realize our motors used a shim and tappet design for the lifter. When I found that out I realized he had never actually done anything except write some numbers down about what he thinks a Beta II can make for power with a little head and cam work. Just the fact that he tried to pass that bizarre dyno off as real results was enough for me to realize that this guy is either very smart and is trying to trick people or he was actually stupid enough to think that dyno was real results for the head kit he did on an old Beta I. Some here may remember that his head package only make about 5hp vs the 40hp that he claimed.
Believe me when I say I am all for the kit bolting on and working great but I am not holding my breathe on that one. All in all I hope the car runs good and you don't end up with engine damage. I would have waited for them to get a customers car running, tuned and dynoed (tuned being the key thing here) before buying a kit but I guess you are going to be the test subject for everyone instead. I hope they gave you an unbeatable deal to be the first.

Haha, if you've been exposed to the worst of the automotive industry, that's enough to make you cynical. Ever since the engine in my last car was destroyed by a shop doing routine repairs -- and they never admitted it -- , I've had the same kind of suspicions Jay has expressed about Automotive repair/aftermarket/performance shops, etc. Never hurts to know how others have been burned.

which is exactly what I think is going on to be honest...
Nathan (monkman) is a nice guy but only a reseller for GUDE, so basically whatever GUDE tells him, he tells me... Now, I've called Bill personally a few times... and well, lets say on every occasion I've called him, he didn't sound happy to hear from me...
But like I said, Nathan does whatever you ask him and he only tells ya what Bill tells him... so not much I can do in that area...
See, I got Bill in a place he doesn't like to be, I had them put the shipping on my shipping account so I sent him a shipping label, so I know the second it gets shipped... I know Bill didn't really like that one bit... lol

Funny I seem to be the one with the goddamn 01. Oh well just kinda makes me not want a damn thing from them.

GUDE is not as familiar with Hyundais as ..well, the Hyundai community is. To be honest, I couldn't even tell you the swappable parts and engines between mitsubishi's and such.
Now as for the applications that his would work on:
Beta 2 engine (manifold bolt patter is my concern here for you Beta 1 owners)
MAP based (non MAF at this point)
Engine bay layout: equivelent to the 2003 I4 tiburons (This is to assure the IC piping will fit correctly.)
ps I am back from my BS in Colorado, so life will be peachy now as far as updates are concerned.

Well, I was smart... and I used my UPS account to ship it and sent Bill a shipping label... so I have had the tracking number, just it hasn't been shipped yet...
And it seems everytime I query as to when it will be shipped or why it wasn't shipped I'm told it'll be another week... So... needless to say I'm not the best in spirits about it, doesn't matter much I bought a clutch from someone on nt.com and it was broken in more ways than you can count...
I'm just not going to expect it to ship when he tells me it will and maybe by not expecting it to ship, it'll actually ship sometime... (btw, it was suppose to ship yesterday or today... I know it didn't ship yesterday... who knows about today...)
Last few times I've talked to Bill Gude, he's been pretty cool with me actually, so I'm glad he's not being a rude individual like he was the first few times we spoke... I'm just hoping that when I get this kit not a god damn thing will go wrong... lol... otherwise... well, we won't get into that... long as the performance is better than the wait time to get it, it's all good...

Well, there aren't really any problems... well, there are and there aren't...
1 - This is the 1st production kit, granted it's going to take some time... Though knowing this Bill Gude should not be saying "it's going to take a month... and will ship on such and such date" then not ship, then have him say it's going to take a week longer, then not ship, then say a week longer again, then not ship, etc... Him KNOWING this was a first production kit and that it WOULD take longer than any other kit after it, he should have flat out said "expect 2-3 months before it's ready to ship"... thats my only real ***** about right now...
Bill has changed his tone with me and been alot nicer on the phone, so I'm glad about that... It's suppose to ship today or monday -- we'll see how that goes...

well, whenever the kit gets finished and sent to me...
I just put a down payment on TigerLilly Turbo Low Compression Pistons (8.5:1) and will have that paid in full come Friday... So, when the kit gets put on, it's not going to be 7psi... which is what they rec with stock pistons, but since I'll have new pistons by then... well... :)
I did talk to Bill Gude today, he tells me it's very close to shipping, so we'll see come tomorrow... I'm calling him DAILY now...
So, right now we're looking at everything in my sig + 8.5:1 TigerLilly Pistons :)
And I'm planning to set it at 10psi and test/tune from there and go up to 15psi with the pistons... So I'm hoping to have one bad little betaII and I don't blow anything... lol...
Next few things that will be getting done possibly....
I'm going to look into a TigerLilly IM or Porting my stock IM, not sure which I want to do yet... I don't feel like playing with the AirRam IM... lol... After that comes the Kaaz LSD, after that will be Valve Springs and Rods...
I really wasn't expecting to do the pistons till about 2/3 months after I got the turbo kit... but seeing how it's been 2 months since I ORDERED the kit... lol... oh well... It's all coming together, gonna end up having the pistons, clutch, turbo kit, and a few other goodies to install all at once... lol... gonna be one hellish weekend of working on the car, I can already imagine.

First box shipped~
Intercooler/Injectors suppose to ship come mon/tues...
We'll see how it goes, I got tracking number on the box that was shipped DHL to me, so I should see that soon esspecially because it was shipped DHL...
Suppose to be the Turbo / Piping / & some other things...
I really hope GUDE's work and outcome of the kit proves it was worth the wait time on this first production turbo kit... I've seen custom kits including custom manifolds etc... done in 60% less time than this kit has took to do... So I'm really hoping that GUDE will revive themselfs with their performance quality.

If I were you, I'd wait till I atleast got the first box in... but thts just me man... Usually DHL is 3 day -- so looking at mon/tues unless he over-nighted it... which I HIGHLY doubt...
Tracking number still isn't in the DHL system yet... usually takes a day or so... so not worried about that yet...

Yeah Id like to see what you get in and what is still on B.O. before I order mine. As far as the alpine kit goes I have also heard that the kit had some fitment and performance issues. Not so much on the tib. as on the 01 elantra.
labmixz
08-16-2004, 06:43 PM
There are no issues
well like other people said, take the alpine kit to another thread...
main reason behind the GUDE kit is IT is a FULL bolt on, unlike the alpine kit that requires you to lower the compression with a head spacer, ie: head work and there are a few other things, also not to mention the fact that if you want the warranty that comes with the Alpine kit, you have to have a alpine certified tech to install it... about $700-$1000 more in installing the damn thing... those were my mine gripes about it, also the fact that the manifold on it was not designed well for air flow...
