I am thinking about picking up a 99 hyundai elantra 2.0 5speed gl with a blown head gasket. Owner claims it had an audible hiss near cylinder number one and a shop claimed it needed a head gasket. Owner claims no oil in the coolant or vise versa. Small hole in radiator neck. Possible warped head. The car has 70k miles and original timing belt. Any problems I should look for? The head is off it. I hope the rings are not fried. Are these engines prone to blowing or warping heads? Can these heads be decked easily? Let me know guys/gals. Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend buying ANY car with a blown head gasket, no matter what the price is, because more things are likely to go wrong, that's just the way it goes.
I do recommend you keep searching for an Elantra though. :)
Good luck!

If it was an easy fix, he would do it, then sell the cars for more $$. Move on.
