I know what you mean! I went two days ago just to check how much, so I can start saving. It's cheaper if you don't get the Fuel Injection Service, but you might as well get it. If you're still under warrenty, they'll change what's needed. BUT STILL!!! ARGH!!! I can do most of it myself for a lot cheaper and get better replacement parts.

Does that include the timing belt and the transmission fluid change? If so, that's not *that* bad...

And just so you don't feel bad, my wife paid about that for the Taurus at 60k... and it doesn't even have a timing belt.

no timing belt at 30k...

Trans fluid at 30k is only for the automatics. If you have a manual tranny take that off the bill. Mine came out to ~$265 without the trans fluid. I think the fluid change would have added ~$75 to the total. I'd ask what they're including because it seems too high. Make sure they aren't doing anything extra. Maybe they were confused and looked at the 60k service line by accident

And the timing belt is 60k like someone else said.

"fuel injection service?" It doesn't say a word about that in the owner's manual. Why would you pay for it? I guess if it's worth the peace of mind...

Do as much yourself as you can, and then let the dealer do the rest. I changed my own oil, rotated my tires, run a K&N air filter, blah blah blah... ended up paying $100 and change for an inspection and coolant flush. You don't have to play their game.

both me and keyan have automatics

So 30k service is this? Plus they inspect lots of other components.

1. Replace Spark Plugs (wires too?)
2. Replace AUTO tranny fluid
3. Replace coolant
4. Replace air filter

Anything else? $464 for that seems pricey even if you have an Auto. But if it means keeping your warranty intact then it's ok I guess. But damn man ~$500 is hard to swallow!

I think mine was about $100 less. Do a search, there have been several long topics about the cost of the 30K service.

They told me they don't replace the plugs or wires, they just "inspect" them.
Ugh.
Flush and change auto tranny fluid
Flush and change coolant
Inspect inspect inspect argh.

We'll see on friday when I have to pay the bill.

its funny im due for an oil change at 29,900 miles should i just wait for the 30,000 to hit or go ahead and get oil change?

hyunelan2

Just wait for 30K. The service book for the Elantra says you don't need to change the oil every 3000 miles (I think they say every 7500km), although I do anyway. An extra 100 miles won't hurt anything.

I paid $100 less then that for a 10K service for my Harley. They did all the fluids including fork oil, wheel bearing adj., belt adj. But for a car !?!?!?!?!

Yeah, I'm at roughly 55K, and checked how much the 60k check up was. $465, I think, it might have been more....

Damn it!!!!

Since I just bought CAI, I'm gonna go in at 56,500 or so and get it done then. Then after that I'm gonna install the CAI....

Still, $465 is way to much money.....

well, if you have a custom intake, with i believe you do, take teh intake off of that. and with new plugs and wires, you can do that yourself, you can just go in for the fluid change and that should drop it down to around 100 easily... maybe less

Do they pull out the engine/or trans? If not, there shouldnt be a reason to pull your cai out.

no timing belt at 30k...

Doh! Confusing this with the 60k thread.

My local dealer advertises the 30/60/90k service for $349.70. But I think there are some extras that you might need to do that aren't included, such as radiator flush. So it could easily get up to 4-something.

Inspect inspect inspect argh.

We'll see on friday when I have to pay the bill.I have a record of a full vehicle inspection from a $29.95 rotate and balance using a Hunter machine. I guess if "keeping the warranty intact" is the object, this would cover all the B.S. inspections. You could probably get that with a $9.95 oil change when a dealer runs a special. Then, do the rest yourself or pay them for JUST the replacement items.

The dealer sucks, the people that work there suck, they overcharge. I have never got ANY service dont on my first elantra of the one I have now done at the dealership. I will do it all myself with my buddys.

Does anyone on this site get those magazines from Hyundai every month or two? They usually have coupons for either 5 or 15%, can't remember, off the total price of these services. That way if you're lucky enough to be in driving distance of a few dealerships you can find the best price and then knock a bit more of utilizing the coupon. Bargain shopper right here- Subvibe
