May I suggest that we add a forum for Advocacy and Safety for car drivers / passengers / Road Use?

This is the kind of stuff we may find in there:

and more....

I think that's a GREAT idea!!

I also think that I have to check to see if I soiled myself. I lived in England and I never saw that on tv. That just scared the heck out of me.

That was a good advertisement.
This idea gets a big  from me.
Driving safely should be something on the forefront of our minds.

Great idea Ford, but may I also suggest one for Spelling and Grammer :D

Of course, I really feel for you, being a motorcycle rider and all. Here in Orlando, every 6th person on the road is usually riding a motorcycle, and many drive with safety at the forefront of their minds. Others, unfortunately, do not. I really do feel for riders, as driver's either don't pay attention, or have a "I am superior than thou" attitude.

I need to reiterate my view that I think this is a great idea for a number of reasons.

Many of the members of the site are young and reckless, let's be honest here!

Having a forum which shows how and why driving safely is a good idea.
It should not be limited to safety though, incorporated into the forum should also be tips for fuel economy, better shifting techniques, keeping control of your Elantra, etc...

I had a title in mind for the forum a few days ago, it should come back to be but I was thinking something along the lines of "Driving Safety & ...."
Damn can't remember...

But I definately see this as a forum that is lacking and required.

With optimum sincerity,
Mark

To be honest, I dunno if this one is really needed. Sure safety is important, but Im sure it could all be stickied in a thread, rather than a whole forum for it. How much of a discussion can you really have on safety? The majority of all drivers on the road know safety (driver's ed, tests, ins manuals, etc etc), its just a matter of whether or not they choose to live by those laws and recommendations. I just dont see how a discussion forum for something that is common sense, as well as common knowledge, would exist.

Agreed...also, one should prepare ones self while driving. As in ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEATBELT! Every day on the news and in the paper I hear of someone getting killed in a car accident and most times it was because they were unbelted and they hit the windshield and/or got ejected from the car. So many people get killed because they don't take 2 seconds to buckle up. ALWAYS BUCKLE UP! Not because it is a law (in every state except New Hampshire,) it is a good idea! I rolled a car 3x at 60mph and walked away from it because I was strapped in (and I did get lucky I didn't get a concussion or anything, but I would have been most certainly been killed or maimed if i had been ejected from the car.) Once again...ALWAYS BUCKLE UP!

Well there could have laws sections regarding car mods, speed regulation and other stuuf like that, it can be helpfull to be reminded about safety, laws, how to deal with tickets when not in your state/province or country ... I think it's not a bad idea and would be a good reference forum that would grow over time!

I disagree.

I don't think people really know the laws of the roads even if they have gone to the drivers ed courses...

Just look at the way people drive and you'll see what I mean.

Out of 10 people that you see on the road, how many of them do something illegal, stupid, or downright unsafe on a daily basis ?

^^^

I would dare to say that it's up to 9 out of 10 people depending on the area ... it's why I agree to have such a section, plus as I said road legislation are different from one state to another, even if it's details it could be usefull, also if you plan on going to Canada or if a canadian member plan on going in the US he can check what are the important things to know about a region ... IE : if you come over to the Quebec province there are strict laws about lights colors and even if it's legal in your state or province, it's still illegal here and you could have a ticket for that!

great idea... gets my vote! I agree that you can tell just by looking around you that so many drivers either don't really know what they are supposed to do or are not actively engaged in the art of driving.

I dont think its a huge thing to dedicate a whole forum to it... there are many other things that deserve a forum... say like a "Video" forum...

Everyone, at one point, has done something illegal. Its not the fact that they didnt know the rules of the road, its because they chose to disobey them, for whatever purpose. 95% of the people on the road, at some time or another, knew the rules. Your knowledge of these rules is tested on both the permit test, and the hands on driving tests. Just because people drive crazy doesnt mean their naive to these rules of driving.

its the same as every other suggestion for a different forum. they're just going to tell you to stick it into offtopic because thats where everything else should go. honestly i think its just because no one wants to make any more sections to worry about moddin.
