TPI was a fuel injection system for ther 350ci smallblock that replaced TBI (throttle body injection)...but i doubt thats the definition you're lookin for...

Since they are talking about track densities, yes that abbreviation is definitely Tracks Per Inch.

I did find this one other reference but no explanation of the word :( Physicists find way to create 3D quasicrystals (http://www.physorg.com/news5090.html) or maybe this one where the phrase "electrical field poling" is used at the US patents office... Well I take my tuition in french, but do study in the field, so I might be right. In my opinion, poling simply should be the fact of taking something and transform it (i.e. bomb it with electrons) in a way that it becomes a dipole (neg and pos), so it has poles on either side of the structure.
