View Full Version : Why do they hate us?

Okay so I was on Elantraclub.com and posted about kingtuner and they went off on me and closed down the thread because it was a link to the ElantraXD club on there. The mods closed down the thread, and deleted the link and said there was a competition between the two boards. When I asked about it, they just told me to search and I came across a link that really said nothing at all. It mentioned about people on here "bashing" the elantraclub members, but I haven't seen anything in the archives here, but many things about how they hated the boards here.

You know what, I hope that I get banned from there, the only reason why I have a membership is to talk with sed on trying to get parts, which he doesnt respond to anymore.

That's crazy. I've posted links to here over there (to be helpful) before with no problems.
I suggest you take it up with Mitch.
The two sites shouldn't be enemies, but rather 'partners'.

nah man, just stick to what you enjoy...your car, i don't know the whole history either. I enjoy both sites because they have both taught me things I never knew I could do with my car. I hope to soon be able to purchase my memership here too.

I keep a foot in both forums. There are different personalities to each, and each has its own strengths and weaknesses. However, even though people think they should be partners, they are, at least on some level, competitors. I have no problem with either forum; both are great in their own way.

I wonder what the discussion will be like when they find out that we now have a "pro membership" :)

i don't think anyone will discuss anything.....from what i think (hope anyway) is that everyone has put some if not all of that behind them. And the Pro membership is a good way to get help / lend a hand in running the site cause it does cost some money. It's a good way to give back what we've gotten from the site :D

well... they have the same thing, and have for a long time....

personally, I've always thought the layout on that sight absolutely horrible.... I could never get "in" to it.... seems like i'l going through layer after layer to find stuff....

i post on both forums somewhat equally. more or less over here. the main thing is dont post a link to exd on eclub, and vice-versa (forum etiquitte). i try to keep both sites seperate in my postings. if its something important i post on eclub that needs a link to exd, i always say "re-posted from exd". not sure what the annimosity is between them, but......

I can't imagine something like that happening.

Someone over there seems to have always had a strong dislike for EXD. At least, that's what I hear every now and then. I don't know because I am not a member there and therefore cannot read any of the posts that people tell me about.

The history? Talgat made an Elantra site. Mitch then made an Elantra site. I don't think there is really anything else. I've never met Mitch (and only talked with briefly). I had hoped I would meet him at the Baltimore meet a couple years ago, I think he lives up that way, but none of the members over there came, oh wells.

i got a PM back from him saying that he spends weekends with his family, and he does live in Baltimore. well, if he spends weekends with his family, then why is it that no one has met him? his wife is a member on the site, but i have yet to see her post at all. all in all, i dont think he really cares about his memebers like the mods here do.

I think it's just a different culture at that board.

Personally, I think rules about not posting links to other sites is ridiculous. Share the love. I've linked to Elantraclub.com DIY pages on EXD, I've linked to EXD DIYs on Elantraclub. They're all on the same internet, made by human beings, right? No one should really care beyond that point. I've expounded on this whole thing before, and boiled it down to this:

They talk about ElantraXD.com on Elantraclub.com more than we talk about ElantraXD.com on ElantraXD.com... Good on 'em. I like that there are two sites, it helps keep things interesting. I don't think there necessarily needs to be rivalry, but it is cool that having an alternative out there makes an excuse fo earch site to come up with new stuff.

May both sites live long and prosper.

Yeah, I think they have more of an issue than we do. I have seen several links to their site - unfortuneately I can not see them because I am not a member anymore - and we don't delete them or lock the thread. I think we should all play nice together since both sites have a common goal and that is to improve our cars.

who cares if they have a issue with us, I am not a member there and I will never be a member there cuz after reading this I get the vibe that they are a bunch of children.

By they way making this thread makes us look like we care how they act and some of you may care but I dont give a sh*t.

I think there are a few "younger thinking minds" on both sites. Both sites are informational in that you are seeing what others have done to there Elantra's, finding out information pertaining to your vehicles and the manufacturer, and putting in information that you feel people may benefit from. The only negative thing on either site is when people talk down about other peoples' ideas or personally attack them in general. I was afraid to post on this site for a long time because I don't know much about car tuning and saw some of the negative comments that were being written. I feel that if people want to make attacks about anything or anyone they can take it to some yahoo chat group with the title of choice. Both sites are great for different reasons and different people will see it that way. This isn't a gang thing. It's a community for car enthusiast. Please try to stay positive towards eachother and for the people on the other forum. The information and great ideas are what keep me coming here - Subvibe

to be honest, ECclub members are in fact older on average than here, and are more family-oriented. and silver, i take issue with your assertion that they are a "bunch of children". don't come to conclusions based on reading other people's biases. maybe if you spent time on each site you would be better informed. each site has a unique culture and many people prefer one over the other.

Hi guys... the is Mitch from the ElantraClub. Not a regular poster here obviously but certain posts kinda get my attention and this one surely did. ;)

Listen, I've said time after time ElantraXD is a very good site and I still stand by that. The reason Vampyrate is somewhat upset is that we deleted his link. As the admin over there I do have the perogative to delete things that I feel are improper. The link looked like it involved a form of gambling. As such I felt it was improper. Either way it wasn't meant to be a big deal and I'm sorry Vampyrate took such offense. Each community has their own rules. As far as a ban... no way, he's ok. ;) We recently had a member post a link to a porn site... it got deleted but we don't ban over a link.

Some of Vampyrate's remarks in this thread are clearly not accurate and need to be addressed. To say that I don't care about my members is just not true. I wouldn't work on our club for up to 70 hours a week if I didn't care. I have attended a meet and folks have met me. I'm just not really into the meets because weekends are about the only time I see much of my wife and kid and they're important, ya know?

Both communities (XD and EClub) are quality places. Each offers a slightly different take on the car and have somewhat different memberships. If you honestly look at our forums we mention XD all the time and very rarely negatively. Just remember, if you look on XD there are negative references here and there to EClub, too. It's just natural for two similar sites to be a bit competitive. And it's also normal for people to have preferences to which site they like better.

Bottom line is both our sites do Hyundai and the Elantra proud.

I think James has done a bangup job overall since taking over for Talgat. The EClub will probably never be as big as XD. That's no biggie. I kinda like our cozier size. :D I think it's time we all just share a few brewski's... well as long as we're not driving. :D

And to answer the thread's title "Why do they hate us?"... two word answer "we don't".

Aww isnt this sooo sweet, it took something negative to bounce back into something more positive... if that trend holds well, I think we should have elantra site fights more frequently so that in the end we can all just forgive and forget, it'll make more cozy moments like these.

As of right now, I have 627 posts here and 700 on EClub (registered there first), so I guess you can say I post equally at both sites. When I talk about meets and post pics, I post to both sites; same thing with DIYs.

One of the first cars I looked at when I started car shopping last June was the Suzuki Reno. I was quite impressed by the car, but wanted to find out more. I started posting on general car forums. Edmunds.com is the only general forum where I still post regularly. I actually decided against the Elantra but a member there called Backy urged me to take a second look. Also along the way I found -forums.com (mazda-forums, suzuki-forums, hyundai-forums, etc.)

I found Drivers and Believers and joined their mail list in August, and discovered EClub in September I think while doing a Google search on Elantras. When I bought my Elantra and announced it to the D&B mail list, one of the list members told me about this place. I forgot who it was but discovered just now that I still have the email; it was bbuzzzard21. Bnystrom also recommended both forums. Thanks for the tip!

After involvement in all these forums, what I've found is this: EClub and EXD are the two premier forums when it comes to all things Elantra. At times I prefer one or the other, and both have their own perspective, but they are both #1 in my book.

All this talk about a joint meet is kind of silly in a way: When we have a meet in North Texas, we invite everyone- XD owners, Tibby owners, Kia owners, even a HonDuh showed up at our last meet. When it comes to meets in North Texas, they're all joint meets. There seems to be more EXD involvement than EClub, but when we have meets we invite everyone.

i wasnt as "lucky" in choosing cars and the first thing that i did was google car mod forums for the elantra and "stumbled" across elantraxd first and then onto EC. I think i joined EC first because they had more DIYs but the more i read both forums, i came here and i guess made that my "BoO"
