Okay, I basically got all the looks done to my ride.
Now its time to get the rest of my engine work done.
I only have an intake and Exhaust right now, and I'm in need of a boost in power.
So the question arises, a supercharger or the almighty turbo ?
Then secondly, I've been looking around and wondering if they even make a supercharger or turbo for a 97' Elantra 1.8L engine aka J2 ?
I see one for the 2.0L on this site:
http://www.alpine-developments.us/hyundaiproducts.html
But am wondering if there is a big difference in fitment or working condition between the two.

TURBO vs SUPERCHARGER
Look in threads for your answers, I'm sick and tired of typing the same things over and over again, there's a thread like that once every 1-2 months.
As for 1.8L vs 2.0L I have no clue whatsoever, good question, though I think it's the same heads, no? If it is, then, it fits :)

Yes, but since he has the 1.8L instead of the 2.0L he isn't sure wether it will fit or not.
Unfortunately not a lot of us (if any) have a lot of knowledge about the noticable differences between the 1.8 and 2.0 beta1 engines. I say, go to rdtib.com, which I'm sure you already did.

Thanks guys! ...and yeah I'm prob gonna go with the Turbo over the supercharger. My main question is about the engine specs though.
I got a manual so it makes more sense for a turbo I believe.
Heres one on Ebay:

I guess I'll ask a few sites about it.

dont.
i have studied that kit with my mecanic (15+ years in performance tuning), and he basically cam to the conclusion that it's complete cheap, and that there's a BIG chance the turbo is just a rebuilt.

for an engine of that age, I would not go too far with spending $$ on engine mods...
how many miles do you have on this engine ?
A simple nitrous kit can give you reliable boost in power for much less than the cost of a turbo ... + you can take it out easily which you cannot do with a turbo kit..

Being one of the few with a J2 on the site, even though I have the BETAI, I'll chime in. In my opinion it comes down to how well you have maintained your engine, andf what internal modifications you plan on doing. If you were like me (90,000+) miles, you would tear down your engine, look it over once, and make the neccesary changes. In this case, I will be taking the head off and inspecting the pistons, and installing a deocmpression gasket. Either project is not going to be cheap. I have about 2,000 dollars into my turbo so far, and its not even install. Let us know some more information about your engine (mileage, when you bought it, etc) and you can get some more help.
