I forgot to post here that I'm new~
I got to know here this week and am now getting on every day!
(edited)
ahh! car details here!
Elantra GT
Black
2006
Auto Transmission (I know it sucks... didn't have choice though)
Hatch!
extra: aftermarket leather and heated seats, sunvisors
it was a demo car, was real good deal except for that damn transmission...
they said that it would take three whole f***ing months minimum, if I was to order a new one with the options & color I wanted due to the strike in Korea when bought it, so I just picked this one.
That's why its got all these cool aftermarket stuff (also that damn auto transmission)
that's it for now!
I'll put up some pictures of this baby later

Sorry man but you got screw/owned big time. Hyundai has plants in the US, they are no longer REALLY 'imported' like back in the day. None of the 'imports' really are, anymore.
My guess is the dealership just wanted to get rid of it and lied BIG TIME to do it, I would sue their asses.
Anyhow, welcome.

From what I understand Kewlkat, most XD's are manufactured @ the Ulsan plant in S.Korea.
I believe that in 2005, the Chennai plant in India and the Bejing plant also started manufacturing them.
The only Hyundai models produced in Alabama are the Sonata and Sante Fe.

Right, they are from Korea. And every year there are strikes. But, it really shouldn't matter, they should be able to get one from somewhere.
Welcome to the site!

Don't forget to check in on the Canadian section, there may be others from Vancover, I don't remember if there are but it will allow others in your area to know you're around if they want to do some meets or such.

yeah, they prolly wanted my money and get rid of that car too, but hey!
I got this car as a Christmas present from my parents and was about US $2,000 cheaper than buying a whole new one. Although it had about 4,000km driven already and ain't Manual but I'm happy enough :)
for those of you who'd say "rich bastard", about a car bing Christmas prestnt, plz don't do that cuz then I gotta tell ya all about my whole family economic history and stuff and I don't wanna bring that around here :P

RICH BASTARD
Hey, if you ever come to montreal we could swap a manual tranny in it.
It'll only cost you the parts, and some beer :)

Well, it all depends on the parts themselves. The tranny, mainly. Find a nice transmission with not too many km's on it. If you want, I can get it checked locally from a good hyundai performance specialist (speaking of the synchros especially) for not too big of a price.
Anyhow, off the top of my head, here are the parts (an aquaintance of mine did it), and some estimates:
Transmission (w/MM) - 500$+
Stock Clutch/Flywheel/TOB - 200$+
Slave cylinder/hose - 60$+
Clutch Pedal/linkage/smaller brake pedal - 40$+
Shifter/Shifter base/Cables - 200$+
Speedometer (optionnal) - 100$+
Center console (optionnal) - 40$
Tranny fluid/Slave cyl fluid - 30$
That, and a few misc parts. There are a few wierd things to do like enlarging the firewall access hole, and shorting the "P" sensor for the auto tranny. Plus, keep in mind you would be able to sell your parts from your car too.
Keep in mind your warranty is HISTORY though, so that's something to think about :P

plus the gas to drive to Montreal! haha
And BACK knowing that you are going to be driving faster just because you're in a standard like you wished you were from the start...
I would kill to have a manual. Well, depends what im killing. But I would kill.

Welcome to the site, Tyburn, and welcome to the "Hatch Club".
I've posted in your other thread about the moldings as well.
I wanted a black one when I went to the dealership, but it was going to cost more money and a long wait before I got it, so I settled on Tidal Wave Blue (happens to be the same color as my wife's car too) :D
It's been said already, but in case you didn't hear it, the search function is your best friend.
An automatic isn't that bad. If and when you choose to boost the car, you'll be happy. Nothing like just mashing the pedal and staying in boost until you win or top out. Manuals require a little more work to drive boosted, and then you aren't always smooth enough to be in boost for the next gear. (at least I'm not, but I'm not boosted yet anyway)
If you want any help with ideas for your ride, feel free to PM me, I'd be happy to help.
