My apologies if this is old news but I saw it on BBC's "Top Gear" this weekend and its crazy because it actually works..!
For those of you with a remote keyless entry you can almost double the range of the remote by touching it to the side of your head.
Try It!
Best I can figure, your body is acting as an antenna (those of you who ever tuned a TV using rabbit ears will know what I mean).

This evidence supports my theory that the government and aliens secretly planted metal plates in everyone's heads!!!!

Now I'm gonna look like the idiot walking out of work with a remote on the side of my head trying to make it work from farther away... thanks for that... however I CAN'T WAIT to try it!

hahaha, yes. Now there are going to be Hyundai owners all around the country pressing the remote keyless entry buttons to their heads as they click them, and then running to the car because they are too far away! Don't you think we've got a bad enough rep already. Haha, wow.

good idea, let the radio waves travel through your crotch first and then out into the air.
haha, just joking. I'm going to shut up and stop posting in this thread now.

I wonder if it has anything to do with it being pressed against your body, or just the fact that your head is higher up - meaning if youhold the remote higher it will travel farther (the same principle reason that radio broadcast towers are tall).

On that bad rep comment...I convinced a friend to buy the gt before I got mine. He still talks so much crap about having it as a car but I can't help cleaning his car out of sheer pride every time I see it. The one cool thing he's doing it trying to figure out how to install a slide out compartment that only works by typing in a code in your stereo. He's some kind of engineer - Subvibe

Ok, I just checked it out at the grocery store. Works just like everyone says...just feel a little foolish is all. I can wait till I get closer to the car.

Well if I put it beside my johnson, its good for out to 2km, beat that! No really the head thing is correct, we apply that same theory with radio reception at work. If we are in a very dense area of the training area where there is little to no radio reception we can put our antennas agains a large tree which acts as a signal amplifier.

I actually did this in AIT...and got in trouble...i took about 50ft of wire, and climbed into a tree, then wrapped the wire around it and did it to tow more (triangulating the signal) and it went hella far...lol...stupid SINCGARS radios
