02+ elantra options

I see a lot of options for the 97-01 elantra, but i don't see anything on ebay for 02+ elantras.

What options are out there?

Is the 97-01 engine in the elantras the same as the 02+ engine (both beta ii's)?

yep for the most part you are correct, suspension parts from the 03 tib will fit the XD and most all engine parts for the 01-03 tibs will fit the XD as well

I thought the 97-01 tiburon was the same, and there was no tiburon in 2002, then in 2003 the tiburon came back w/ a different, v6 200hp engine.

well since you know it all why did you ask? No you are right about the 2002s it was more like 2001.5, also the 2003 had the I4 engine as well which is as we all know em as the Beta II. The 97-01 (Beta I) is slightly different than its counterpart but parts do fit. the V6 isnt 200hp, it makes like 170whp

Okay, I thought the beta i was a 1.8l, ? hp and the beta ii was a 2.0l w/ 140hp.
So now I am confused. My car is a 2.0 140hp.

yes the beta I is the 1.8L, the beta II is the 2.0 which makes 128whp (140crank)...yes if you have an 02 than you have the 2.0, there are options for interchanging things though like the pistons and rods from the 1.8 will fit the 2.0 for what seems to be a compression drop. The crank is also swapable, not cams due to different lifters.

On hyundaiperformance.com they tell me the beta i 1.8l cams are a good upgrade for beta ii. Is this possible or desirable? Do the 1.8l cams have a little more top end?

I put a beta I cam into my beta II last winter and there was a slight difference but nothing huge, again the lifters are different and it gives your engine some terrible noises.
