Has anyone looked into the sharkracing.com 2.5 map sensor? They say plug in play for MAP based cars, anyone see this as false? Anyone have any idea?

It works, it's a modified OEM piece. I have one for sale if you want.

Do you even understand what the MAP sensor is used for?

That MAP (Manifold Absolute Presure sensor with the IT-intake temp. sensor on it) is for turbo based cars buddy.

Without the necessary ECU re-programming the OEM computer will see MAP voltage too low on the operating scale and the car will not run correctly. Without the appropriate programming adding a 2.5bar sensor will only cause problems, as you have found out.

You are right dmdicks. Remmaping the ECU will be neccesary almost for every mod to get the most of it. For example installing a header will make your ride lean as well as installing an airram and a cai. You will not get the best if you do not remmap your ECU. Remember all this mods change the air/fuel mix (including air in air out). So for better performance a remmaping is a must.

And you;d use a SAFC or something like it ?

Basically for example your stock OEM map sensor has a specific range between 0-5 volts (i.e. 0 volts = -25 psi, 5 volts 3psi, just an example) so your computer is expecting that if the OEM map sensor sends a signal of 1 volt to the computer, the computer is expecting that that is equal to maybe -20 psi) so now you go and put a 3 bar MAP sensor to where maybe 0 volts = -25 psi, but 5 volts = 44.1 psi, the range is going to be different...now if the MAP sensor says 1 volt which is supposed to be maybe a couple pounds of boost, the ECU looks at that 1 volt as being -20 psi, so you will not have the proper amounts of fuel, the ECU needs a seperate equation of voltage v.s psi for each MAP sensor that has a different range, so the ECU will need re-programmed, or hell maybe a piggy back will be able to take care of it to a certain extent.

so far....I figured out how to run the car with the 2.5 MAP
I using my SAFC's sensor in/out; in:6 out:1 ..........so far so good. WOrks. No check engine light while in boost or idle. pleny of fuel

I have been boosting for awhile,..... thought i try the 2.5 bar MAP to turn off MIL and fuel problem. The SAFC doenst do sH#( with the stock MAP . But my XD runs with no problems. But im considering an ECM for optium power, New turbo setup
