Having read many of the threads concerning which spark plugs are best I recently swapped out my NGK Iridiums for NGK Copper... I had read that that the Coppers would be better at conducting the spark but would need to be changed more often than the Iridiums... anyhow I tried them for few weeks with little noticeable change except my gas useage (as averaged by the computer) went up from 8.9L/100km to 9.0L/100km (which might have just been a coincidence)... occasionally the power seemed a little down particularly when manoeuvring at low speeds it seemed like I needed to tap the throttle more than before. Anyhow today I swapped the Iridiums back in and notice an immediate difference... of course it's all "seat of the pants" but the car immediately felt stronger and pulls better at highway speeds.
As I have an '05 GT 5spd Hatch I wonder if the Copper advice applies only to earlier year models and not to the later Beta II CVVT which comes OE with Platinums?
I also notice every time I inspect the plugs how the lower treads are covered in soot.. I guess a sign of our overly rich mixture... I wish there was something we could do about that!
