2.25" SS pipe from the down pipe back. I removed the 2nd cat and the resonator. Magnaflow 3-chamber muffler. Sound deep at idle but holey crap does it open up when gunned! I had the muffler tucked up like the stock one with a small down pipe so the po-po won't see it.

did you get to do that at class??? i noticed UTI...i will also be heading there( orlando)...and isnt eliminating the second cat...illegal??? i would have atleast put a hollowed out cat...and is that mendral bent??
i heard that they will check...put a mirror underneath to check for those things

Beautiful.. that's what I want... what is the part # for that muffler??

03-10-2006, 03:23 PM
Nope, those are definately crush bends. Just looking at them I can tell.
Whatever, 2 1/4" crush would give the "approx" velocity of mandrel 2", so I guess it's cool for an N/A engine.
Is the Pipe SS from the inside also? I need to get myself a similar setup with mandrel bends, though I will throw a cat, and reso on top of it in there.

My setup is almost the same except that I still have the stock mid-pipe with the catalytic converter housing on it...
I have a " cat-back " setup but otherwise its identical to yours.
With my setup, I was able to make some good whp and good 1/4 mile times. You should also be able to get some more power with that setup !
Good luck on the dyno !

Taking the 2nd cat out is not illegal, it was not put a CEL one and it will pass emmisions (mine did) and I have the same set up as him but I have a dynomax 3 chamber turbo muffler.

yeah, just what silver said, I have already ran my car through the emissions testing at school and passed. The muffler is a 14" 2.25 in and out offset magnaflow, part number 11235. It is 2.25 crush bent which should be fine for my n/a car. the biggest performance gain that I've noticed was on the freeway. the fujita SRI really helps it at WOT. The pipes are full stainless steel.

I like the way it's tucked up under the bumper...just like the limousines I clean at work now. They are exactly the same.

Taking the 2nd cat out is not illegal,
Um, I don't know where you get your information, but it is incorrect. Tampering with the emissions system in any way, shape, or form is illegal.

especially in california...just because you passed emissions does not make it legal...better check the laws...our cars states that we are supposed to have two cats if they are cali (etc) emissions vehicles...which if im correct ALL xds are...although the removal of hte first cat would not create as much suspicion as removal of the rear one would...considering thats where most manufactures have them.

You wont get a CEL from taking the 2nd cat out.

hanging and and all? hahaha...i think i'm going to do this kind of .. but i'm going to buy some 2.25 inch pipe that is flanged on one side so the pieces fit together.. and i'll just clamp them w/ stock muffler cuz i don't have anything yet... i think it would sound a lil diff.. and improve performance a lil.... hopefully :P

No the sensor isnt hanging, its in the pipe still.

yup...the you have the first sensor in the manifold...then the second one is just before the last cat that is no longer there...so the sensors are getting different readings and will not throw a CEL

florida doesnt have emissons checks if he's in UTI down here
we dont have any sort of checks, just as long as you have the right lights (plate, break, and driving lights)

Welcome to Ontario. You can pass the emissions test when they hook up your car, and then if they find out that you're missing something (like a cat) you can fail the visual, and therefore the whole test just based on that. Seems a little stupid that you can pass on the actual emissions, and fail because they don't like how it looks.
Anyway, nice job on the exhaust. Like I said before, love the way it tucks up like that. I might think about getting something similar down the track.

See some places in NY dont do a visual but some do.

sorry, been busy w/school. anyways... everyone's right, no CEL cause no O2 sensors were removed or moved. about the emissions, it is true that I would not pass a visual but I would pass the actual test... but in actuality I have NEVER seen a tester get that into the visual as to find out how many cats you SHOULD have. most guys just hook it up and you're on your way. I do have a SRI installed with the exhaust and I do plan on getting a good sound clip up very soon. does anyone know of a good site i can post a sound clip???

thats stupid, it will be way to loud. The only way I can see that working and sounding good is if you take the 2nd cat off and the resonator and put a dynomax 3 chamber muffler. Thats what I did and it sounds real nice.
