You can tell if the car has ABS by looking under the hood. Assuming you are looking from front of car, on the left had side, right above the windshield-washer-fluid resevoir and below power steering reservoir, Elantras that have ABS have the ABS module thingy there, Elantras without ABS do not. It looks like a block with lots of piping comming out of it.

I regret not buying used now, 1 or 2 year old with low miles are easy to find for lots $$$ off vs new! Good luck with your purchase.

Another way to find out if it has ABS, although its not really a GOOD idea, is to get going a nice good speed, and then SLAM on the brakes! If they like, pulsate, and dont lock. You have abs! Also a light comes on, on the dash. If they lock up, well, then you dont have ABS. haha

Seriously though, is it an auto or stick? What color?

Even for a low mileage GT that is a little too expensive. See if you can get the price down near $9000 (some will suggest even lower).

Good luck!

Some things to watch for our also that power steering lines are in good order as well as if you see any leaks from the center of front of the car.... I didnt do this and end up with a trans line leak that ran right with radaitor so the dealership ripped it all out and well just watch out for that ... another to look for is spots further back... alot of people have had the fuel damper system replaced on our cars since the sometimes leak... but with those thing out of the way...elantras are great cars to own... hope you get them down to a good price and welcome...
good luck

I think this is the easiest way to find out if it has ABS: ABS equipped car also have TCS - if it has TCS, there will be a "TCS Off" button on the dash, to the left of the clock.

I'm pretty sure all the GTs have TCS and ABS - but I could be wrong, things do change between model years and in my old age (26) I can get confused, haha. Good luck on finding your car.

I don't know about earlier GTs but my '05 GT doesn't have ABS/TCS. Anyway it's more fun in the snow without it. :D

Forgot about that TCS button.

Also you can check to see if it has ABS by turning the ignition switch to "ON" and the ABS light will show on the display at top left of tach.

or look at the driver's side strut, there should be two different lines going to the caliper :)

LOL i do admit its the hardest way to check though

Has anyone suggested popping the hood and looking for the abs motor? :)
Nevermind!!!!
I had to read the post in order to see the answer to my question
