If you roll/cut the fender lip and have the correct offset (~42) it will fit

No, i don;t wan to cut.
What about 215/40R17. I know this diameter is almost exactly the original diameter, but still its the width. Any problems with this width?

You should be OK with 215/40/17 as long as the offset is right. I'll be honest with you, if you want to fill in the wheel well a little more and you arent gonna drop it then go with 205/45/17. Even if you do drop it though and your offset is right you can still go with a 20/45/17 tire.

Yeah, but im lookin for a used set Mags/tires and 205/45R17 are quite scarce.
You see a hell lot of 205/40R17, which i think is too small a diameter. I beleive the offset for 215/45R17 is 45, but i need to double check with the guy.

I say this all the time, if you wanna avoid issues go with a 205 tire.

With 215/40/17 you are still a lot less likely to rub. The problem with 215/45 is that it's often too tall.
BTW, 225/40/17 doesn't exist

225 40 should be the same size as the 215 45....i will have to see if that tire is a good enough tire to try this out...i will have to do some measuring as well. i will let everybody know....when i get to it that is... :D
