I'm changing the timing belt on my 02 elantra this weekend and I've had no problems getting all the other belts off to access the timing belt. I even got the crank shaft pulley bolt off by using a breaker bar and turning the engine real quick (this is a great trick and worked like a charm). Problem I have now is that the crank shaft pulley bolt is off but the pulley itself will not come off. I've wacked a few times with a hammer but its not budging. Anyone here know any tips or something I missed to get this pulley off? I'm so close......
Thanks

I hope you didnt take your timing belt off before you cranked your engine. You just ****ed up your timing if you did.

If he can't even get the pulley off, then how is he going to take the timing belt off?
reb162, have you tried using a pulley puller?http://www.ttzd.com/tech/timingbelt/pulley21.jpg

No, of course the timing belt was still on. I don't think its even possible to remove the timing belt without first removing the pulley.
ricerrx7, I have not tried a pulley ouller yet since I do not own one...yet. Guess I'll hop on over to autozone tonight. Do they sell different sizes?
Thanks for the help

They might be able to loan you one for a small fee.

Well I got the job done.....took a day and a half as I was going slowly and had to fit my St. Patricks day drinking in. I'll be posting hints and pics shortly.
