I was just thinking today, well, 2 seconds ago while updating my cardomain page (click the sig to see) and I was curious what you guys would say to this:
Should I paint my alloys until I can get real rims, or just paint them and drop the car?
If I paint them, I want to go either flat or glossy black (with many many many layers of clearcoat).
Or, should I get them powerdercoated (where do I go for that and how much does that cost)?

Powdercoating can be expensive, as they have to prepare the machine for your particular application. My dad's friend rebuilt and old 40s Chevy and had the entire frame powdercoated... but the guy there owed him a favor, haha. Duplicolor does make a pretty good wheel paint, man. If you do paint them, I say go glossy.

If you are looking to powdercoat, I know a company in PA (near philly i think) that powdercoats any color you want for $65 per rim.

Yea but theres nothing wrong with his OEM wheels and he can take the $65 per wheel and put it to some nice after market wheels.

Wow, never thought I'd be talked about in another post. That is really a great feeling.
Hey, Aaron, love the new car man, looks sweet. Welcome to the Hatch Club.
Duplicolor does make paint to do your rims. Either in glossy or flat.
Personally, I'd by the Flat black. Get 2 cans of that and 3 cans of clear. You'll need to rough up the rims a little, I used a fine grit sanding block from Autozone. After the black has completely dried up, wet sand the wheels just little. Then do the clear coating. Wet sand in between coats. I'm almost positive it'll come out looking like a hyperblack, black chrome kind of look. It'll definitely make your car stand out.

ive done the wheel painting before (on scott's car) so i know how to paint them, i just really want powdercoating since it seems to hold a lot better than the best paint job

I don't remember. I'll get back to you tonight. I'll have to look at the block to let you know...

you could probably get away with some 1800 grit on wheels as far as sandpaper goes

They are located in Morrisville, PA.
You can get a discount if you are a member of www.tristatetuners.com like I am... I plan on getting my grill's mesh powdercoated by them when the blue cracks off it....
http://www.boneheadperformance.com/powdercoating/standardcolors.htm <-- list of the colors this guy powdercoats, btw.
