After reading all of this, it is total bull**** that Evan got banned. Just because a moderator has a problem with Evan, does not give him the right to band him. What is said between him, myself, shaun, and nick is our business, and if it carries into joking on this forum, I guess there really is a problem with most of the moderators here.

EXD has gone down hill so much in the past few months. From n00bs bringing up old post's form two years ago, to total off-topic posting every section of EXD. My decompression plate was a perfect example. You moderators realy need to look at some other forums such as rdtiburon.com, newtiburon.com, hp.com. They dont let useless posting go on. Granted, what evan and I say are in other sections, they still pertain to the damn thread.

hell, a year ago? This place was fine back when I got on in like August. There was no problems for months. I usually don't flame people, as far as I can remember. Theres no reason for this thread to go on, most of the veteran members said what they wanted to say and from what I see NOTHING was resolved and even if Evan was only banned for one day do you think he is gonna come back? He came back after leaving for about a month or so and he seemed alot more calm then he was 4 months ago, then he passes one remark about his buddy then BOOM hes banned for a day.

I am not gonna take sides so I will speak my piece of mind and all of you who know me know that I am very good at that.. So here it is.. Yesterday Evan passed a remark about HIS FRIEND who he kicks it was all the time and BOOM BANG he is banned for the day, that right there was not called for but I think it was done because of Evans "past record" and the mod that banned him didnt know that Evan was joking, see on the internet its very hard to tell when a person is being serious or when he/she is joking.

Its like this.. If it was me who passed that remark I would not have been banned but because of Evans "past record" the mods were not gonna have it with him. Its like when a man/woman is arrested for a white coller crime, 99% of the time he/she is let go with probation/fine and he/she is allowed back in the "community" but if a person is arrested for the same crime twice the **** hits the fan and your looking at jail time and a "BAN FROM THE COMMUNITY". So even though I know and most of you know that Evan was joking around I dont think the mod that banned him knew that.

My personal opinion is he's a stout unhapy little man that likes to make people feel like idiots. With all of the talk about "i'll flame you" when i first came. If everyone else hadn't stood up for me at the time, I wouldn't be here either. I don't disagree one bit about his past and thusly reflecting on the one day ban (I would have went more) at least it's good to know that the "kkk" of these message boards are skating on thin ice. If I wanted to be belittled I'd just go to a family reunion. If you don't belive me,... look at my first posts and what he said.

I personally feel that while the maturity level dipped for a while, after Evan took his voluntary leave of absence, this place got readable again. I don't know that I would have banned him for cutting on Shaun, but I did take note of that post. Other than that single indicator of probable things to come, Evan's postings since having returned here have been just fine. OMG HE CAN POST ON XD WITHOUT BEING CUNTY.

If y'all wanna start another Elantra board and congregate there, I'd love to see it get even more popular than XD. I think James runs a tight ship, and am glad that he and his crew run things the way they do.

When in the hell did we lose any or all self respect we should have for one another? Since my time on this site it has slowly slipped into silly bullsh*it at least once a week. I thought we come here as adults to learn from eachother and have fun. So we poke lil fun at one anothe sometimes. If it was taken out of context most of the time the person making the remark apologizes.
We all seriously need to think bout the things we have do or will do in the future. If your children were to take a liking to the xd's and found this site would you be proud of your contribution or ashamed of the things you have done. How can we got to people and ask their sponsorship for HITH when we have silly crap like this on OUR site? :(

since this is still open, i'm on this board almost all day and night, and it's here, that i have more posts than all the ther boards i been on for 2+ years, the variey of people here and the information they have has kept me here instead of going to elantraclub. Since i have been here, i really haven't had much exposure to evan and his noob bashin, but hell, if this is a "family" like everyone says it is, dont the new kids get picked on everywhere? evan just took the direct route as stated in elantra_mn's post, there was no real harm done, and unless you are an anemic 5 year old little girl, i dont see why you should get offended for him blatantly saying nitrous cheap easy power. make sure you do a lot of searches before you ask basic ?s or i will flame you, along with a few other people. nothing we hate more than to see the same thing brought up every week HE'S JUST TELLING YOU TO SEARCH! Ive know evan almost 2 years. I appreaciate all his help. Hell without him and his personal help my XD wouldnt be what it is now. I in no way am attacking him. I am saying in general bout the whole forum. It is like a street fight sometimes. Some one slips up and before you know it everyone is on them. We all were new once. Hell i even made mistakes, but the responses to the new members lately has been a lil harsh. Granted we got members from all ove rthe world, which makes us one of the most diverse web boards i am part of. Where did we stop getting along like we use to?

As far as I can tell, we all log on to EXD willingly, no one pointing a gun at us, and such. So if someone logs on here, having been bashed before, they'll either be wary about how and what they post about, or not care and keep on going.

I've read most of these posts, and I'm curious. Does anyone know if the banning of Evan wasn't a personal problem between Evan and the moderator who did the banning???

I know Evan talks crap, but so does everyone on here, including the mods. Hell, check out the Hyundai Meet Orlando thread and my own profile. Only1db and I talk so much **** back and forth it's not even funny. And I've never met the guy. I guess he and I should be banned as well.

I could have sworn with the old EXD site that the moderators were moderators of specific sections. But it seems they all have etherial power over the entire site, not just one topic. When did that change, and how can these rights be taken away and instituted the way it was back in the day???

I've had many a conversation in the past with a lot of people that are all over this thread, and I tell you, myself included, we should all be banned. At the same time, I'd like a moderator ban me from my wife, since she and I banter back and forth so much, you'd throw up. Not to mention, ban me from my car club, OrlandoXD, since all the members talk so much ****, you'd need waders to walk through it.

Oh well, sorry that Evan was banned, I hope he gets reinstated, and the b/s stops. But then again, the b/s is what makes this site so much fun. You can only tell someone about an SRI or CAI and their differences so many times before you get bored.

It was just an observation without any judgment either way.

I see it this way: It's the internet. Rough stuff and flaming comes with the territory. Bring your asbestos undies.

But that's no reason to check your sensibilities and manners at the door. Even though the primary reason for this place being here is information exchange, there is undoubtedly a social element. If you alienate and insult others, there will be consequences. Whether they are official (banning), unofficial (ostracizing) or influencing (resulting in changes to the culture of the board), there are consequences.

Again, I'm not passing judgment on the mods, on Evan or on EClub. I'm just pointing out that there are differences in styles. The board I prefer is both, actually. Both boards have a lot of good solid information about the car I own. Both are, at times, fun in a social sense. Both have their down sides. But both are very useful to me as an Elantra owner. The mods have a big influence on the nature of the social interactions. I have no interest in being a mod, so I just try to abide by the rules and practices at each board. It's their show to run.

Catch-22.I know from personal experience that it can be pretty intimidating to start on a new forum.. at 47 years old this is my first and I am really grateful for the help and advice to be found here. One point I would add to this comment by hyunelan2 is that I often see newbies being told to, "read the rules"... I searched for them (believe me) and so far as I can tell there are none :) I know Super stickied a reminder about Searching but that's all I see... I ended up assuming that these "rules" must be either common to all on-line forums and as such a "given" or were simply understood by those who had used the forum for a while. In any case it took me a while to find my feet here and in many ways I am still learning the "rules" of forum etiquette. One thing I will not go along with is the apparent requirement to use foul language or to poke fun at anyone who is in any way "different"... IMHO that is unneccesary and can be hurtful, whether intended to be so or not. :cool:
