I need some help with my new intake. I bought and installed a CAI from Evofusion on eBay and there is a strange "whirring" sound that seems to resonate throughout the entire pipe. It is really loud and is the worst when the car is at idle. What's up with that?

Is it a humming sound?
Or a sound that sounds like air is getting sucked into the intake?
Maybe this will help..

Yeah, I know that air is being sucked into the intake but this sound is definitely not normal. It freakin echos down my street! I mean it's really loud and annoying. Anyone else with a CAI that has experienced a similar sound? I think that maybe it's due to the fact that the pipe is so damn long.

OK. I listened to the sound clip and that is exactly what it sounds like! So after reading all of the responses I take it that the sound is nothing serious and I should just get used to it? Because that's going to be hard considering how annoying the constant humming is. Maybe I can name my car the Hyper-Hyundai-Hummingbird. :thumbsdow

The CAI is acting like a pipe organ pipe. Use the solution from the other thread or get used to it.

SleeperGT has the same sound. I told him it can be eliminated but he said he's grown used to it and actually *likes* it.

Odd, my CAI does not make that sound at ALL! It does sound like its sucking in massive amounts of air though!

Thanks for the info guys. I just installed my ARK exhaust and now I don't mind the humming sound too much anymore. By the way, I was amazed at the quality of that exhaust and the price is awesome. Even my son said it sounds "cool."
I have another question about my Evofusion intake. How can I install the MAF sensor when there is no spot for it?? I'm now wishing that I bought the shark intake instead. Please help.

It's probably just that the noisy exhaust is partially drowning out the noisy intake.

You mean you're driving without the MAF installed? That's a REALLY BAD IDEA! Cut the intake and either splice in the MAF in the original position or use the stock connector from the MAF to the throttle body (which will eliminate the noise at the same time).
