ok...i have a choice between two tires...i have finally narrowed it down!! sheesh this has been a long and drawn out process

the Nitto 555...225/40 R 17...this will be the equilvant to a 215/45- i'm willing to sacrifice the extra tire wall for more width.

or

the toyo T1R 215/40 R17

i'm leaning toward nitto...but really unsure...i would like the extra grip...and i know i have enough clearence with the wheel well...the only issue i could for see is that icould not run alot of negative camber...which i really wouldnt do anyway...so i guess it does not matter that much...i would probably never run past -2 degrees...

on a side note...everybody knows that you have to switch the left front and the r ight front when installing the teins....what i plan on doing is switching the camber plates...so i will have the correct plate on the correct side...this will make switching camber that much easier.

i don't know about the nitto myself but I have Toyo Proxes-4 and they have really good handling even in the rain. I would say that it seems like they handle better in the rain too but I haven't tried that model even though the tread looks similar to the ones i have.

the only reason i didnt like the proxes 4 was the tread seemed to squirm under super handling...the car almost felt unstable...it was really weird...but hey dont make my size anymore either....

what's the price difference on these tires?

I haven't had experience with either of the 2, but if someone asked me which set of tires I would want, I would go with the Toyo's. The Nitto NT555 have been around for at least a few years now, and being that the T1R is the replacement to the T1S, it's newer tire technology. Also based on ratings, the Toyo's treadwear is only 20 less than the Nitto at 280, but it's traction is AA vs A and temp is A, same as the Nitto's.

I also like the tread pattern on the Toyo better. Ultimately, if I had to pay for one of these tires, it would come down to price, especially since most of your driving is done while your working right?

I'll vote for the Toyo's then if the price is similar.
