so what do you guys think? i bought em today for $365 shipped! they're 16" lightweight rims (16.5 lbs per rim), now i just need some 215/50-16's and i'll be a happy freakin camper...btw i have a tidal wave elantra gt 2005, i thought bronze would go good
Edit: got them on!

Not bad, you can't go wrong with the classic TE37 look. I wouldn't call 16.5 lbs @ 16" lightweight rims though.

still not what i'd consider light weight. 8lb 15" wheels and 11lb 17" wheels are light.
i still feel like my 13.5lb 15" wheels are a little heavy...that comes up to .9lb/in if you want to measure it that way

I like those. I was thinking of getting some Rota Grid, which look identical, in 16x7 for my Sentra.

But they are lighter than the stocks
evan938
03-23-2006, 10:58 AM
theyre also a bigger diameter which puts that weight further away from the center of the wheel like the stocks

Well, even though these rims aren't lightweight wheels, it's still a lot better than stock. The stock steelies weight over 20 lbs and the stock GT wheels are close to 20 lbs aren't they?
Even though more of the weight is going to be further way from the the center, he'll still get a performance benefit from these wheels compared to stock with the wider width, stiffer sidewall, and lighter weight.

lets not start that crap again...
if they are lighter than stock they will spin faster...regardless of where the weight is...
if they were the same weight than yes that would apply but they are a good 4lbs lightier than the stock ones...my stock alloys with tires are close to 30lbs

you cant be serious can you? for a very generalized example, if i get some 18s that weigh exactly the same ammount as the stock wheels (same weight, so they should spin the same speed in your mind right?) with tires that are the same diameter as stock tires, there shouldnt be a difference? the weight being further away from the center requires more power to move the wheels. why do you think dave only hit like 165whp w/ an 80 shot of nitrous with his 18's on. garuntee you he puts some lighter, smaller wheels on, the numbers would go up quite a bit

they 16's at that weight will run about the same speed as the stock alloys simply because of size/weight will eventually be close to the same when looked at mathematically, just doing very rough math in my head, its the same rim, only slightly bigger and a different color.
IMO i think those would look hot on my car now, but they would need to be red and not bronze. congrats on the purchase

You can't really talk about weight until you factor in what tire will be used. The new tires will definitely weigh more than the oem michelins.
Good looking wheel btw. Love the volk design.

I think those bronze rims will look excellent against the tidal wave blue. As was mentioned it would definetely give it that WRX look. Nice choice btw. Can't wait to see the complete look. Be sure to post tons of pics! :D

yeah i love the contrast that the WRX has between the paint and gold rim, ive been wanting to do this for a while and finally a 4 lug bronze rim came across my vision...i was gonna go on tirerack.com but town fair is cheaper, better, and has CRAZY warantees (if i blow my tire, i get one for free)

they look 100 times better in person...the dark bronze goes along with my front and back blackouts...and the chrome lip is the icing on the cake, the only "bling" on my car lol besides my paint which i wax consistantly!

Those are nice lookin rims. I dont usually like the bronze finish, but looks grrrrreat with the blue.
On my car I have the stock steelies with these cheesy "Turbo" directional wheel covers that I painted gloss black. I was actually surprised at how good they look for 25 bucks. Ever seen Night Rider? Looks like that. LOL Looks good with my blacked out grill.
