I'm in the process of applying to get a job with TECO (Tampa Electric Company) as a Field Tech Engineer. I took a series of tests on Saturday and got an e-mail on Monday stating I passed to the next step. Now I will have three seperate interviews, hopefully on the 3rd. If all goes well I can make anywhere from 12k to 32k more than I am now. I can only thank karma. I've been at my current job for 6 years now and the latest review put everything into perspective. I am not going to adavance anymore. At least I received experience from this job. Damn, I'm anxious! :D :D :D :D :D

I've been here for 4 years and am in the same boat, no more advancement allowable here. I realized just how fed up I was with this place last night. I applied for a job in person this very morning. We'll see what happens. I've been complaining about being here long enough but I can't actually find anything to take over. Congrats and all the best.

hahaha. I'll try not to. Hopefully that doesn't run through my mind during the interviews.
The position is a general title. I won't know for sure exactly what I'll be doing but the description says everything from computer work to field work (testing stuff) to people management. We shall see. It'd be even cooler if I got a company vehicle. :)

Thanks, pjc!
From what I've heard, there are 11 openings and 19 applicants. I spoke via e-mail to the HR lady and she is setting all three interviews up on 4/3, all at different locations. So it looks like I'll be taking a vacation day and doing a lot of driving on Monday.

Actually I said that during an interview and got a call back for it... but that's for a different thread if I ever decide to tell you all about it.
Good luck Mike, I know how screwed the tech field can be... its kinda like the Stock Market with its ups and downs in employment.

I can only imagine if I get this position. I'll be able to "really" mod my car. The turbo upgrade is looking more and more realistic. The Kicker audio will be perfectly done. Not to mention fixing the front end. Hell maybe I'll even get a new paint job. Well, I can't count my ducks before they hatch. :(
