This guy I work with has a 01 galant he thinks its a viper, its completly stock.
Hes always asking why I waste my money with modding my hyundai. He says hyundai is crap ect... So with my 01 gls broken struts and a cai can i beat him we both have auto trannys, I would hate to lose so thats why Im asking.

Don't know about who will win at the track - but next time he starts talking crap about Hyundai - ask him how come Mitsu is having Hyundai build their engines (referring to the world engine).

What trim level is the Galant? It came with either a 2.3L 140HP engine, or a 3.0L 195HP V6. Also, the car weighs 3250 pounds, and has a 4-speed auto. If he has the 4cyl, I think you'd win - if it's the v6, I think he'll have you by a little.

My friends has a 00 galent with the 4cyl and he cant take me off the line or in the long run. He has a SRI and his 2nd cat and resonator removed. My car has a SRI, my 2nd cat and resonator removed I have bigger piping with a dynomax muffler. Iv beat him about 4 times from when both our cars where stock up untill we did all of our mods. He gets so mad when I beat him because he has a 2.4 and I have a 2.0 and he doesnt understand how a hyundai is faster then his car.

Both of our cars are autos.

IMO the galents from when they first came out up untill the new ones are all ugly and there slow unless its the model with the 6cly.

^^^I don't know about the Galant, but I think my SF might be able to take my Elantra... never tried to race myself, but I do know there's a lot more torque in the SF than the Elantra (even though I HATE the delta engine, it does have some decent pull once you finally get it to the sweet spot of the powerband).

To be honest, I've NEVER looked at the 0-60 times for the SF, not even before I bought it. Thanks for giving me something to do now...

haha, no chance for the SF. 11.2 second 0-60 on the 2.7L Santa Fe. Even with the torque in the sweet spot, the 'dead engine' during the first 3500rpm makes it slow as hell. I hate the delta.

ken - your auto elantra is probably going to be stuck in the 17 second range for the rest of its life. youre going to need some mods + spray or boost to get into the 15s

im shootin for a 15.7 this year...maybe a little quicker. got my underdrive pulley on the way, gonna head out to the track early this year before its 90 degrees out and run my car before it gets super hot.

I think I could hit a 17.0 w/ new tires (balding tires), 1/4 tank of gas (had full tank,) and take all that crap out my trunk. The 17.2 I ran was the first time I had ever ran my car. I was so nervous lol. Im positive I could do alot better. All I have is a CAI.

i have a 4-1 header..big bore tb..full exhaust ngk plugwires..phenolic spacer...a gls=lighter+ i will be running with the stock 15's

and no massive audio system, lol

just throwing this out there but blk02xd ran a 15.254 with i/h/e, ported intake, intake spacer, lowering springs, stage 3 clutch... if he had some nitrous i guess we'd have a 14 sec xd?
