View Full Version : My free time is going into Oblivion

I know there are a few PC game lovers here, so if you have a bunch of free time you want to toss in the toilet, and maybe even some time you can't afford to lose I recommend Oblivion. Hands down the most impressive RPG I've ever played. If you have a rig that can handle it, and you like that kind of game, say goodbye to your free time. :) Tonight I ran into a rude lady in a bar, so I decided to go back to her house when she was asleep, steall all her silverware, clothes and cash then eat all her food. I also watched an elf crumple and roll down the hill by me with arrows still stuck in his groin (I'm a deadeye :) ). Sure it's immature escapism, but it's damn fun. I'd be playing right now, but my wife won't bring me my meals at my computer if I don't come to bed and perform my duties.

Im not a big Marrowind fan. I really dont like the open-endness of the whole thing. I need something more linear. My fave rpgs: final fantasy (overrated tho), tales series, secret of mana games, final fantasy cc, zelda (lol its classified as an action rpg), grandia II (awesome), guild wars (mmorpg)

Oblivion is awesome, I have it for the 360 and am loving every second of it. Morrowind was good but this tops it IMO. I like the fast travel feature because I hated running for 4hrs to get somewhere then having to run back the same distance.
two big thumbs up to Bethesda for this game

I had Morrowind for almost a year before I really played it. The first time I fired it up I made my character, got into town and was like "WTF? What am I supposed to do now?" :) It was only once I had no other games to play that I really got into it, and it still stands as one of my favorites. Oblivion doesn't have the same problem. From the start there seems to be so many things do do you have to decide on your priorities, and on the way to do other, you always run into two or three more places to check out or fun quests to do.
I had trouble with the character creating at first, there are so many option for customizing the face I had a hard time creating anything but freakish looking people. It took me almost two hours to create my current blue skinned sticky fingered hottie. :)

the closest to an RPG that was "addicting" was Diablo II with the expansion, i had a maxed out zealot that would beat the crap outta anything in 2 hits!
anyway, im more into First Person Strategies like the Swat series (mainly Swat 3-Current) I love how you actually have to think of ways to bring in a criminal other than just shooting blindly around corners like in CS:S (still a good game, but no strat. whatsoever).

I've never been into RPG's, but I know a LOT of people who have no lives because those games (Especially WoW & Everquest) have taken them in.

just shooting blindly around corners like in CS:S (still a good game, but no strat. whatsoever).
As if! If there was no skill required in CS:S, it would NOT be in CAL (Cyberathlete Amatuer League). I suppose you can pull off 50:1 ratio's...

How can you say that CS:S has no strategy. IN Cs, you cant just go running around shooting, and take tons of shots before you die (cough:halo:cough) i dunno who you play with, but there are tons of strategies for each team, depending on the map. best map is the office.

best map is the office.
Yeah that's my favourite map too! I spend a couple of hours in the office almost every day. ;)
I also like playing CSS: DM because waiting to spawn is so frustrating sometimes... ;)

I hear Oblivion is an amazing game. It's too bad I've never been a fan of PC gaming (well, not since Sim City and Sim City 2000) and I don't have a 360 yet (and won't for a while).
Maybe some time down the line I'll have a chance to play.
