I'm looking at some 17s with tires. I have a '02 hatch and suspensions are all stock except the tib sway bar. Will I have a rubbing problem? I do need to carry people in the back seat from time to time.

Thanks for the quick answer. Will the extra weight of the hatch be a problem? or there's not much weight difference in the back between the hatch and sedan?

also depends on the offset of the wheel

obviously bumps and dips will cause some rubbing, but you'll get that with stock wheels on a stock suspension, so you're fine... you can even do the eibach 1" drop and be good as far as I know.

if you have 42mm-45mm offset...they will not rub! if you have less...more than likely they will unless your suspension is extra stiff....like with coilovers...which you dont have so....

The never-ending tales of "my car rubs" and "my car doesn't rub" all depends on the variables described in this thread...

In some situations it's the alignment that makes the difference.

But, 215/45-17's on 17x7's w/ 40mm offset should be fine assuming you max out the stock adjustment for negative rear camber (around -1.2 degrees).
