so i got my rrims...i saw some bronze showing thru the black, so i pick up some paint stripper and sho-nuff, therez bronze...but under that, was white/silver, and under that, was some more black, and finally, i hit polished/brushed aluminum

I say strip the whole thing down and see what you get. Then just have them re-polished and cleared. Might cost you some money if you don't d-i-y

they were originally polished aluminum. they almost look chrome. we sat there and stripped paint for like an hour

you can see a bit of the aluminum color in the 2nd pic. the first 4 coats of paint were easy to get off. the coat on the aluminum sucked

yeah, i tok my dremel to it and the paint was comin right off, and just to be a smart ***, i took a grinding wheel to the tires....filled my whole garage up with the smell of burning rubber...i might just keep an old tire around just to get the smell of the track at home...LOL

yeah, so i just ran out on the first can and the spokes and most of the rim is shiny...i think im going to try one mor erim with the stripper, the other two, i think i might find a place to get them blasted...but the stripper im using makes me feel sooooo good....:) LMAO

they did have a lot of paint on them. i think it was actually black on bronze on white on polished. i think the final black we were seeing is from that plastic piece we were scraping paint off with

What kind of stripper are you using?
I have used the Aircraft paint stripper before and had great results.Like stated above,you may want to get them blasted.Are you goin to have them re-painted or keep em polished?

he used some 5$ paint stripper from autozone. it actually worked REAL good. we sprayed it on, let it sit for like 45 seconds, and the paint came up by running something over it. didnt even take much pressure. the aircraft stuff was like 26$/can where we went. he said hes used it before w/ good results. if he keeps them polished they'll look real good

**update** new stripper being used, its the 5.99 Kleen strip aircraft stripper, me thinks the wheels were supposed to be white, i came across some lettering on the lip of the wheel with some uninteligable letters and the word "Racing"...im gonna be a little more careful on the next one to see if i can make out a brand name or something...but the one is almost blingtastically done!!

honestly man, i think they were the polished aluminum. reason behind that thought is that if you look at the spoke, they have those shallow but uniform lines going across them. all perfectly spaced. they wouldnt put those into a wheel then paint them white

well, the powder coat has been ordered...before all the **** with amanda's soon to be ex husband...and if money permits, ill have them done sometime between getting back into town, and friday...HOPEFULLY...but this is the color that i selected...just so im not like the rest of the crowd with bronze rims...its called Sungold Metallic
