would they work? I know we should roll w/ 195 to 205.. that's the width.. blah blah.. but can we go with a lower profile of 50? instead of 55 or 60? I have stock stealies....

Youre better off with 205/55/15s since those are closer to the stock diameter, your speedo will be quite off... also 205/55/15 wouldnt be too safe on stock steelies since they are 5.5inches in width...

Yup it'll fit. I honestly would go with that size if I wanted performance @ a lower cost w/ stock wheels.

205s wont fit on a 5.5 rim.

205/50/15 will not be close to stock size. Your speedometer will be off and the tires will not fill the wheel well but, you'll get better acceleration, steering response, & lateral traction.
205 will fit on a 5.5 rim

no they wont. i had some 205s a while back and it specifically said on the tire "DO NOT MOUNT ON A 5.5" WHEEL"

So the better tire would be a 215/55/15 on stock GT wheels?

Sure you can put them on... but how long will they last.... the fact is that if your tire is too wide for your rim... it will wear faster on the inside and will eventually "slip" off....

So a 205/55/15 would work out well?

195/55/15.. They will work since they came stock on the 00 tibby?

Dude think for a second... do you even know what the numbers mean? if not look it up.. 195/55/15 will fit since 195s are stock on ours. And it would probably be worst than stock 195/60/15

Looking at the tirerack website, it shows that a 205/50/15 tire will fit rims ranging from 5.5-7.5".

Yes I know what the numbers mean, im NOT some stupid newbie. I was just wondering if they would work out well since I dont know of any members here have them but I do know the 15 inch wheels that came on the tibby had them and they worked out well.

i think i might go w/ 195 50 then... a lil less of a profile... its not going to throw off my speedo THAT much...

It'll throw the speedo off over 6%. Plus the fender radius won't match the tires and imo will look kinda dumb. 205/50/15 will throw it off close to 5%...
The correct +0 sizing is 205/55/15 which throws the speedo off 1.4%.
For Nokian tires, 205s are rated for 5.5-7.5" rims. It depends on the tire manufacturer I guess...

Yes, it depends entirely on the manufacturer. You can SEARCH and find plenty of us have tried 205/55/15 on our steelies.
