got this in the mail a few days ago. finally got around to posting a pic. will be going in when i get to pittsburgh on friday (dont have an air compressor big enough to do it here at home) and we'll also be installing sean's (yamaha) turbo kit. pulley weighs in at a whopping 10.5oz. im quite confident that once this is in, ill be or over the 140whp mark. i will be going to a dynojet here in columbus after it is installed, but it may be a week or two. im shooting for 143whp.

mods at that time will include

Key motorsport header
evo fusion cat back exhaust
accord (3") CAI
OBX underdrive pulley
ground wires
clutch slave cylinder mod
throttle body coolant bypass

ill probably change the plugs as well before i go in.

good luck man! Let us know how it turns out!

Sounds good. That dynojet will shut all the critics up.

:whines about mustang dyno and SAE #:

LOL

That dynojet will shut all the critics up

you would think. im sure they'll find something else to try to use as an excuse. anyone who has doubted me (mostly for a few select people on EC, but i know there's a couple here) and my key header will finally see the truth once all is said and done.

The Elantra is a wonderful platform capable of much more than 140 whp...only we haven't yet figured out how to do so while remaining naturally aspirated. However, As long as we have people on here trailblazing, we'll be able to push into the realms of 175 whp N/A before too much longer (meaning hopefully soon we'll get there!)

evan938
04-03-2006, 01:53 AM
yeah, i wont be blazing that trail. my modding is coming to a quick halt here soon...i gotta start lookin for a place to live by about the end of may

dang that wil make you the highest hp N/A elantra we know of right?

it sucks when the real world beckons..rent, bills, food..all that on your own leaves little money for extras

although if you did have extra $$ and if it were my car id throw on a bigger tb, some head work, ported im...(wether it shows gains or not)...light fly, all the accesory pullies and some other crap i forgot...depending on your dyno numbers now that would have to get you to the 150whp mark.....and then if you kept all of that and threw on the alpine supercharger you would probably hit the 200whp mark or more

evan938
04-03-2006, 02:24 AM
yeah, theres a lot i still want to do if i had the funds to do it. BBTB, clutch/flywheel, maybe some mild headwork, plugs/wires, MSD ignition, cam gear (which i may try to sneak in there if i can just to play with it on the dyno

So is that a pic of ur obx underdrive pulley? I have never seen that before. Where the hell did u get it cause i only know of a diff underdrive pulley weighing more than that and ark's that is lighter but the oem size.

evan938
04-03-2006, 02:36 AM
its OBX...you can get one on ebay for <80$. i bought mine from fordfasterr caus he had one he was looking to get rid of, and with 2 new belts, i saved 10$ over buying from ebay and going to find the belts...and all i had to do was wait for the mail

Im actually in the process of doing some mild head work. I've got the std I/H/E and the head seemed like the next place to go. I got a used head outta the junkyard for 125 bux canadian and it looks to me like they'res a buttload of power there to be made. I'll post some pics as soon as i've got the head all torn apart and ready 2 rock.

seriously evan, good luck. I hope you hit it. If you do, then I got some money to spend...lol

But Arun, apples and oranges man. Let's just wait for the dynojet sheet, then we'll all know.

BTW evan have them use a level 5 smoothing. Without that it can potentially show a spike whp # that is not true. With a level 2 smoothing my max whp spiked to 141. I knew that wouldn't fly on the boards (and is not the right way of doing it either) so I did it by the acceptable standard.

talking to a guy on rd (he is turbo'd and knows his stuff when it comes to tuning) he thinks that we can get 150 to 160 na with a fuel tuner set right for my mods. There are some new products coming out that hopefully will deal with the over-riding ecu problem with the use of a piggy-back system. Well see. Otherwise, using a s-afcII or similar piggy-back device will have to do along with a periodic ecu reset.

do some internals... i did cam pistons...robs everything top end and wow its a big change and then a cia and new 2.25 exhuast all th way back performance ecu... going to dyno soon however the car is so much better than it was stock and to the 150 to 160 na that is something that we can do...

the 3" cai will hurt you...the evo fusion 2.75 is the best for volume and velocity...just someth ing to keep in mind.

the 3" cai will hurt you...the evo fusion 2.75 is the best for volume and velocity...just someth ing to keep in mind.

really? do you have dyno proof to show that?

unless youre gonna show something to prove that, lets not go passing info around

Cypher
04-04-2006, 02:22 PM
he means the 3" will help you more with your top end but the 2.75 will be more effective at lower rpms. i think thats been the consenus on here anyway... oh and i plan to dyno this summer. me and reece are going to so i should ahve some numbers to throw up here in a couple months!

Why not just stick a cone on the end of the throttle body. Cuz the pipe makes a difference. Volume and velocity matter. That is affected by the size of the pipe. too big of pipe is just like sticking a filter on the end of the tb. The smaller the diameter the higher the velocity. At a certain point you cut down airflow (point of diminishing return) where smaller is not better (unless you are expaining that to a new girlfriend). Finding the balance is the key. Length, diameter, taper?, etc...

korai9989

put in some nice copper plugs for the race. tell us how it all works out.

^the cone fits on the throttle body fine, and the hood still closes fine as well... worth a try? im interested in seeing a dyno on all the options.

evan938
04-04-2006, 08:57 PM
there is absolutely no way i am going to stick the cone on the TB

korai9989
04-04-2006, 08:58 PM
there was one person on here that did that, i am curious what all that does, but i like my pipe

Cypher
04-04-2006, 09:00 PM
evan whatever you dyno i'm going to try and beat it!!! :)

evan938
04-04-2006, 09:08 PM
thats nice :)

I've dyno'd with an SRI and then without any intake past the throttle body, and lost 1 horsepower without an intake.

korai9989
04-04-2006, 09:23 PM
that's interesting, maybe without the pipe there is added friction from multidirectional air being inducted... and still i'm curious.

also a possible factor, heat rises.... no pipe, it draws air from higher in the compartment, but i doubt there's much temp. diff. there

Cypher
04-04-2006, 09:25 PM
who knows... someone needs to hit 145whp with an xd ;) thats what i'd love to see.

evan938
04-04-2006, 09:28 PM
give me some time...i may have something working

Cypher
04-04-2006, 09:32 PM
awesome. i wanna break 140 this summer too so we'll see how that goes.

My hood was open when I dyno'd, so not a factor...

korai9989
04-04-2006, 10:12 PM
hmm... even more strange... but the friction could be a factor, because an organized stream of air is much more effective in travel

XDGT03
04-04-2006, 11:19 PM
I think the my point was lost so I will clarify.

IT IS NO GOOD TO PUT JUST A CONE FILTER ON THE END OF THE TB YOU NEED THE PIPE TO INCREASE VELOCITY.

see ricerrx dyno
and TONS AND TONS of info on the internet about this

duh wtf :hammer:

^umm... i guess you can't read into the context of posts? we were discussing it and trying to figure out why there was a horsepower decrease, not hyping up actually doing it... damn

I am in need of a dyno as well I hope evan you are close to 140. After what we talked about last night you should break that number if you follow through with the plans!

evan938
04-05-2006, 06:43 PM
im talking to a guy right now that deals w/ a company in korea for ECU remaps...he's talking 10whp or so from a remap...

also thinking about picking up a spare head and getting it ported/polished...waiting to hear back about the port/polish now to see if its worth it

will also be getting an adj. cam sprocket soon

Cypher
04-05-2006, 06:51 PM
all this from the guy who said he was done with the xd ;)

Cypher

bummmp. come on evan when you dynoing?

evan938
06-20-2006, 03:53 PM
maybe never. ill just keep you all in suspense

honestly, after the racing this weekend and seeing how i did, i really dont care if i hit 125 or 195hp. it doesnt matter.

only1db
06-20-2006, 05:16 PM
sure it does...because if you hit hte numbers you said you were going to...you can shut up alot of people...

and i think you peeked everybodies curiosity.

its ok. if he doesn't i will.

Jonny666

ok...but do you have the same mods???

evan has talked smack about his headers for some time now...why doesnt he just go and get it done?? i know he moved and all and has no money...but then dont stick your neck out there and talk smack. ;)

When it comes down to it, everyone will doubt him. I wouldnt put the money towards the dyno. If he's happy with it, he does not need to prove anything to any members here.
