Just took delivery of my new '06 Elantra GLS. I have very poor FM reception over the stock hyundai AM/FM CD radio. I can't get any local stations on FM without static. No AM at all, even local stations won't come in on AM even if I can see the transmitter tower from my location. If I scan, it will not detect any radio station at all.
Normal?

either you got a bad radio or someone forgot to plug the antenna in behind the dash or a bad antenna cable.. take it to the dealer
Im goin to say that the antenna lead is not plugged in.

I agree that it's probably the antenna lead, but you might also mention this to the dealer:
Technical Service Bulletin on poor AM radio reception:
06-90-011 AUDIO ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE FIELD FIX KIT INSTALLATION
Some 2004 - 05 Elantra vehicles may experience AM radio interference noise. An electrical interference kit has been developed to assist in reducing the noise. This bulletin provides the procedure for installation of the interference field fix kit.

Since it was just issued last month, doesn't mention FM or 06 models, it probably has nothing to do with your problem, but I thought I would mention it anyway.

Thanks for the quick replys all. I figured the antenna to be the problem as reception is good on top of hills.
Other than that lovin' the Elantra.

It was the cable at the mast. It was not connected. Problem solved.
Thanks to all that replied.
