OEM GT lip spoiler

i have several questions about the OEM GT lip spoiler, part # 00218-81000. which is the same as this one http://elantragtclub.tripod.com/elantra/id366.html
1.does it fit a 2001 gt? anyone tried it on?
manual says only for 2002 up, but this forum says 2001-2003 http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2676
2.do i have to paint it cause neither the manual nor the DIY guide says i have to paint it. but the spoiler is very sandy.

2001-2003 are the same genaration, if its made for a 2002, you should have no problems

That will fit all 2001-2006 Elantra hatchbacks.

when you bought it, did it come with the clear coat on top, or was it very rough.
