still trying to decide. the wheels could be in better shape, but theyre actually not bad. thinking about getting them sand blasted and powdercoated flat black, depending on cost. just to keep the finish nice and not chip away

i go with nay but thats just not me...not a fan of everything being black. i like seeing a contrast ....

i still need to get the windows tinted...:(

Not bad. Depends if you like the monocrome look.
If you powedr coat go with glossy finish. Lil shine look nice.
15 or 16? How was the trip?
evan938
04-10-2006, 01:42 AM
15s. powdercoat wouldnt look bad. maybe a flat black...not glossy. trip was long, im beat from working on cars for about 20 hours this weekend.

I like your OZ wheels better but I guess if you re paint those they would look ok.

I think they look kinda sweet

looks ok. if they had polished lips, it would look very good imo. then again i'm biased towards black cars lowered with nice black rims with polished lips. :D

04-10-2006, 01:57 AM
i say sand blast the crap outta them and then do a hyper black or gunmetal color.
evan938
04-10-2006, 01:57 AM
i think a polished lip on a 15 would show how small the wheel is. with it all black it sorta blends into itself and its not so "HEY, LOOK HOW SMALL I AM!!!"

04-10-2006, 02:02 AM
mmm yea.
go with 17's or 16's then!!
haha jk. those aren't bad looking by all means. but i'm just saying IMO black wheels on black cars gotta have poslished lips or most of the time it'll just look too black. lol.
What happend to the OZ wheels if I can ask?
evan938
04-10-2006, 04:31 PM
theyre in my garage. along with my GT wheels. lol. im still debating.
the tires on my OZ wheels dont have much left...maybe 2-3 months. getting the tires switched will only cost me 20$.
i do like these wheels though because they give so much clearance of the caliper. w/ my OZ wheels, maybe 1/4-1/2" on the elantra calipers...these wheels, probably 1" or more...perfect for tib brakes :)

If they weren't black-black, I might say yea. As in, if they didn't provide so much contrast from the tires. If you could color-match the rubber better, yea. Otherwise, nay.

I like the black on black, so I say go for it. How much is it going to run you to get them powder coated?

evan, semi-gloss black in my opinion.

Your car looks like a neon.
But to be on topic, I say Nay. I dunno why, but I like the OZs more than these.

cbehage did state they were not "bling"........so if it's performance your after I say YAY. And looks I actually dont mind 'em, as long as you get 'em re-painted or something
evan938
04-10-2006, 07:26 PM
the paint really doesnt look bad until youre close. from more than 5 feet away they dont look bad.
im still debating...

I like them a lot.......u just need some tints then you'll be good to go
evan938
04-10-2006, 07:59 PM
yeah, needed tint for a while. right now, any extra modding money i get is going for performance. i told my dad he can get me tint for my birthday in a couple months

I think if you're going for that "boy racer" type of appearance, then keep it, but here where I live, whenever I see a car with wheels like that, it's usually some kid who can't afford new rims so he paints his hubcaps or 15" stock wheels flat black. Or worse, they ride around on their steelies.
evan938
04-10-2006, 08:41 PM
not really going for any type of "look"...i bought the wheels strictly for the tires and had plans to mount them on my OZ wheels. i slapped them on to go test the tires and looked at it and thought....hey...maybe...
these are within a couple pounds of my OZ wheels so i may just switch the tires over, and see if i can sell the wheels on a local board for a few bucks to make up what i spent on them.
if i do that, it will get a jump on my head/cams/ECU and ill still have new tires for this summer :)

04-10-2006, 08:59 PM
well evan, how much are you looking for? and would you beable to have them sand blasted or something?
evan938
04-10-2006, 09:04 PM
this site would probably be a last resort for selling them since i think i might be able to make some money off what i paid for them on a local board, and i dont want to scam anyone here...lol.
as for sandblasting, i can check around here and see what it will run, but i would think they would have to be painted/powdercoated soon after since it will take any protecting finishes off the wheels.
Vampyrate
04-10-2006, 09:08 PM
yeah, id prolly get them powder coated if i got them blasted
evan938
04-11-2006, 12:12 AM
50-60$ per wheel to powdercoat
so my choices are this
pay about 250 to get the wheels refinished (these are great for the tib upgrade)
sell my OZ wheels with tires to finance getting these wheels powdercoated
try to sell these wheels on a local board for 300 (im sure someone would take them...theres a lot of local ricers) and use the money towards a new head and getting it ported and polished

04-11-2006, 12:15 AM
well, if you want to get rid of the oz... you know where to find me
evan938
04-12-2006, 12:51 AM
well i called a few places today
i can get all the wheels sand blasted for 20$/wheel
powdercoating is $250 for the set, unless its a color they dont have in stock (which i doubt black will be a part of)
lucky for me, ive been paying a little extra on my car payments and this month, i dont have one due (235$) so getting them refinished will run me about 100$ out of pocket, plus pulling and remounting the tires
03SilverBullet
04-12-2006, 12:55 AM
you would be a fool to sell the OZ wheels, there 100 times better looking.
evan938
04-12-2006, 01:01 AM
i dont know. im getting a little tired of them. they dont really have the tuner look. they're stock wheels from another car and look that way. ive had a couple nice pulls since i put these on a couple nights ago
and, if i put these 215s on a 6" wide wheel (the OZs), id be worried about the sidewall getting worn out too soon. the nippons are 6.5" wide which opens up a new door for tires
i should start a poll to keep track
03SilverBullet
04-12-2006, 01:09 AM
well if you sell the OZ wheels im sure they will go fast.

Sorry to join this thread so late. You are totaly right about this ^^^
I personaly never liked the oz's. Not on the Lancer or Elantra
I say sell the oz's get them powdercoated.
So hard to take good pics of those rims.
Do they spin up nicely? How's traction?
2 pounds per rim is still a lot mang.
evan938
04-12-2006, 02:09 AM
traction is nuts. i took my bro out a few nights ago, nice straight away road, about 11pm, just sat there for a sec, revved it up, took off, hit 105 in no time at all. between the wheels, wider tires and the UDP, this car goes like a bat out of hell
