I have just visited the evofusion site, in regards to the 01-06 Elantra catback exhaust. There is a new second paragraph on the page stating that the exhaust has just finished production, and should be in their store by the end of this month (April?). the $100 off prebuy special still stands. Most important though is a picture of the exhaust, still laying in an opened cardboard box,There are some changes from the old system. First, the centerpipe section is now in two pieces; the part that replaces the resonator, and the offset section that goes to the axle. Second, as stated before the muffler is now an oval type with an offset inlet and a center outlet, judging from the pics it looks like they lengthened the hangers to allow for installation without having to notch the bumper shell. also the tip is smaller and oval in shape. I have been really tossed on the idea of ordering the system vs going to a custom exhaust shop, I am not to happy with the new two section centerpipe, that adds one more flange joint that could possibly leak and reduces the solidity of the pipe vs the old design with a one piece centerpipe.

dont worry about the 2 section center pipe man. those 2 bolt flanges can take tons more abuse than your exhaust will ever see (unless you try and tow a trailer by your exhaust).

the fab work really is top-notch on the evo-fusion exhaust I've seen.

 Damn that,s how I was going to attach a Class IV box hitch on my car :hand:

Here,s the update. I cant stand it, I went ahead and ordered the EF "new" catback today. I just hope that they havent accepted more pre-orders than they have available exhausts to ship... will post asa I get the system in my hands.

good, hopefully you'll get it. if you're looking for a better place to attatch that trailer, just take a hole saw to the bumper =P

does anyone know the actual gains on hp and torque from this exhausts? The site states over 20 hp and 25 ft lbs which can not be anywhere near accurate, jsut wondering if anyone knows actual numbers

I Just made a call to Evofusion to check on the status of the Exhaust system, The guy told me that they do not have a exact date that they will recieve the shipment from EF Korea, he did say that as soon as they recieve them, which could be a couple of weeks, they will send an e-mail to all who have pre-ordered to comfirm that the exhausts are in, at which point the EF website will be updated and the price will then increase. So for those who are stil thinking this over, you may have a few weeks left to get in on the pre-buy price deal. I got mine reserved.

Will this be a direct fit or will some modding need to be done. I know on the site it says direct fit but then again most aftermarket parts say that and its hardly ever true.

Vampyrate
04-27-2006, 08:05 PM
its a bolt on direct fit... i know the previous generation exhaust needed to have the bumper cut, but i dont know about this one, from the pics, it may not be needed

SilverElantra
04-29-2006, 05:44 AM
ok i have to say i broke down and bought the exhaust...at $330 its a friggin steal...couldnt pass up the pre-buy...hopefully for once they can get on the ball and get these things shipped out to us fairly quickly.

the bumper didn't really NEED to be cut. if you just let it stay there it'd melt away some of the bumper and then you wouldn't have to think about it.

SilverElantra

well if it doesnt fit all you do is take it to an exhaust shop to put minor extensions on the hangers for a few buckds and then you dont have to worry about a thing.

I sent Evofusion an e-mail asking for updated info on the exhausts, They replied on 4-28-06 stating that the exhausts should arrive in 2.5 weeks, and immediate shipping of preorders will begin, shipping will be through DHL.

Vampyrate

but anyway, the main reason for the wait is that they are getting stuff from their factory in korea then shipping from CA once it gets in from there

i was one of the first to get a cf hood for the 04 accent...they said 3 months and it ended up being 6 months....they had a deal where you could order the hood and a body kit...bvasically getting the hood for free...my buddy ordered both and it has been a full year later and he just now got his side skirts to his body kit on friday...and the front adn rear are still yet to come in....

snova44
05-01-2006, 10:53 PM
that is the kind of thing I am wondering about. I don't want to wait 6 mos. for a cat-back. I e-mailed them a few weeks ago and still have not gotten an answer back.

I see many people are suffering from the same evofusion problem.. including me
here's reply I got few days ago... after sending E-mails to so many addresses...

We usually reply within 1 business day (we were closed monday-tuesday). The only address you should use is orders@evofusionusa.com. have you used that one? I didnt see emails sent there. Well, as the website says, this is a prebuy, thats why it was so cheap...we gave people who paid in advance for it a big discount. It was finished early this month and on the way to us from Korea, should arrive in the next few weeks. There are 25 of them on there, yours is guaranteed to be on there. We will send you tracking as soon as we ship from here.

I see here that four of us have pre-ordered our cat backs, and thanks to those who kept the thread going. I wish everybody luck and hope that we all get our exhausts in a timely manner. reading the last post from Tyburn, seems that EF has 25 exhaust units in shipment,I do hope that they were smart enough not to accept more preorders than they have units availabl
Good job; SILVERELANTRA,TYBURN,and RAYDEE. please let the rest of us know when each of you get your exhaust.

Hey when I first got my Elantra I took it to my Muffler guy that has been doing all my cars for years and he said it would be at least $500. $310 shipped for a bolt on that I can do is a steal...even if it takes a little while to come in.

snova44
05-02-2006, 08:29 PM
I don't mind waiting even a month, but any longer than 4 weeks I would be worried.

chillbro1
05-02-2006, 09:43 PM
I talked to one of the guys out there at EF last week in reference to the catback exhaust.

He advised me that the shipment was delayed because of some totally unrelated problem with a shipment of Kia taillight lenses that are being shipped in the same carton as the catback exhausts (hey...I am just telling what he said).

This person (I didn't get his name) at EF advised that he thinks it should only be another 3-4 weeks to get the shipment in, barring any delays in customs, etc...

I dunno, it is a long wait, but considering that any other pre-fab catbacks are in the $500.00 range, it might be worth the wait.

I tried a different option. I placed an order with Gary Rome Hyundai for the Bill Smulo Engineering catback exhaust. After making a phone call to verifiy if they had the exhaust in stock (which was confirmed),I then placed the order, only to receive a phone call advising the exhaust was not in stock and I would have to wait (take a wild guess) 3-5 weeks for the B.S.E. catback to arrive.

Anyhow...it'd be nice if one of these companies decided that having these parts on hand might make them more successful in selling them.

I wonder how many other people out there are sitting on their orders so they can have 3 to 5 day service as opposed to weeks.

Anyhow, just my 2 cents...

Peace,

Chill

They can be loud if you dont have a muffler with a silencer. You can prob put it on yourself if its a bolt on.

I am sure that if I try to pull my money out they will have a leg to stand in in court if they decided to sue me for the money. I really don't mind the fact that it still isn't being shipped but at least be a good business and keep us up to date on whats going on with our money. It really stinks that the two business' that have performance upgrades for the Elantra's are both very unreliable.

Man I don't know how the heck you guys get your exhaust systems done so cheap out there. You must have little third world sweat shop kids welding up pipes for $3.50 and hour or something. When I called all the muffler shops around here I couldn't get a stainless catback system made for under $500.

Not tryin to blast on you Raydee...but why they gotta be Mexicans...

Most "custom exhaust" shops wanna do crush bent exhausts and enlarge the diameter of the pipe...and then a lot of times their quotes are based on welding into the exhaust from the 2nd cat backwards (meaning all stock restriction)...hence the reason why it is cheap. Not much different from all the pickup trucks with duals and all that stuff.

If you talk to a shop that does a Mandrel bent exhaust anywhere in the country...it'd be over $400 for sure...(local Mandrel fab shop quoted me $700.00) and that isn't even for Stainless Steel...

Well the comment wasn't meant to offend any of my mexican brothers.....even though in some cases they do work over here for much less money then any man should get paid. I changed my original post cause I don't want to come off like some racist white supremacist.

I have very good news. My Exhaust came from EVO Fusion yesterday! They did a very nice job with it too, the welds look great. I'm going to install it this weekend and I'll try to post some pics.

After I have the exhaust on, I'll do the headers. Then, I'll determine weather or not I need the resonator.

Mine came in today, so far it looks like it was well worth the wait. I have to take a better look but it looks like it came with gaskets and hardware.

I got mine today also,1 day earlier than DHL had said. the system looks great, comes with two gaskets and two sets of bolts, It is made of stainless steel but has standard steel flanges, the welds look perfect, even to the effect of being done by robots. BUT here is the gripe. I look inside the 4 1/2" by 2 1/2" roled edge oval tip to see if it is a straight through design, and to my disappointment i see that the inner pass pipe of the muffler looks like a
1 1/2" diameter. I have tried to get the best pic of this to show what I mean, That is uncalled for you build a 2 1/4" mandrel catback and put 1 1/2" pass tubes inside the muffler. That has to be more restrictive than the OEM 1 7/8" pipes.I still plan to keep the exhaust as I feel that all the pippes up to the muffler are worth the cost But I might be going to the shop and getting that sorry muffler section replaced with a real 2 1/4" performance muffler.

Try it first, they may have did that for a reason.

thats true, maybe it is designed to keep some backpressure to avoid torque loss, I will install it as is and give it a fair trial before I consider changing it.
Let me know if your system is the same, when you get to take a good look at it.

im glad i got my custom one done i think that sh*t is pretty damn ugly comparitively...and that would be to pretty much any muffler....in my personal opinion.

ImportSpeed having the pipe like that only really changes the tone of the exhaust....there is not much left once the exhaust gases hit there anyways so there will be no power loss....or shouldnt be.

Well I am not real fond of the looks myself. My muffler was also welded a bit crooked so i had to go back under the car and loosen the system up and tweak it a bit so the muffler sat less crooked. After doing that the muffler tip was hitting the bottom of my bumper so I took a trip down to the local muffler shop and they hooked me up with a longer rubber hanger. With the longer hanger it sits about 3/4" below the bumper now. I talked to the guy working there about cutting this muffler off the system and welding me a different muffler on it and he said that wouldn't be a problem. So I guess if the looks don't grow on me I will go buy a Borla or something and have a muffler shop weld it on. I do agree that the older system looked better but for $275 I can't complain much considering the local muffler shops here wanted over $500 for a custom system.

Well I already have the new evo fusion exhaust on and I love it, I feel much more power has been opened up. Also feel it was a better buy than anything else I was thinking about getting and it looks great!!
