View Full Version : Fender Replacement?

(long story, but a friend asked me if I could put a new fender on a 2003 Jetta).

What all is involved in pulling a damaged fender, and haning a new one? They aren't typically welded on are they - just bolted/clipped?

I've done some bodywork before, but rehanging a fender would be new to me, thanks guys.

dude, im as lost as you are, i have to do the same thing only for my passenger side skirt.

hell, do a writeup for a future DIY for the maitenence section haha. though its a Jetta, it has to be similar principles

should just be some bolts and the clips for the plastic splash sheild underneath...but those damn germans have a way of putting in hidden screws and a bunch of other crap!

ya it shouldn't be too hard...just should be bolts running along the top under the hood there and thenat the bottom just infront of the door and thenjust your plastic clips things holding the inner liner on and you may have to take out the park light/headlight assembly cause it may be hooked in the fender as well or there may be a hidden bolt back in there... just take your time and make sure you remember where all the bolts go back into and you should be fine....

Thanks Evan - that sounds about like what I had imagined. Does anyone have any VW experience to know if there are any 'tricks' or 'unexpecteds' on the '03 Jetta?

ummmm... theyre tiny tiny cars when it comes to trying to get into certain areas to work on. the elantra will look like a stretch limo after having to deal with a jetta

side skirt has to be drilled off as it is 'spot welded', i'll tty about it later

elantra fender comes off easy as ****, jetta shouldn't be too hard, but who knows
