Well I took my wife's 2001 Elantra from her today (She bought a new car) but I know this car just isn't "me". I need to do some mods to this car and soon. I am looking to drop the suspension, get some new wheels, cold air intake, headers and a full exhaust. I am going to start with the springs and the wheels so I need to know if I switch to some 17" wheels will I still be able to drop the suspension and if so how much? Also can I just get away with just lowering springs and what company makes a good set?

Take it stock, put some better tires, 205-50-15 preferably, and drive the hell out of the thing.

If you keep the same overall diameter regarding the wheels and tires, then you will be able to drop it just fine. Just watch the width of the tire and offset of the wheel or you might get rubbing. There's lots of info on which springs will suit your needs if you use the search button.

Thanks for the links, that helped alot. I think i will get the lowering springs first and then decide what wheels will fit best. I may have better luck sticking with the stock 15" but just a little wider of a tire.
