I just bought an Alpine CVA-1003 and its got the stupid park switch but its a difficult one. Alpine wised up to just grounding out the park wire! So i was looking for any info anyone might have on how to bypass this particular Alpine deck and if you know how give me a step by step because i could really use that lol. I guess we'll also use this to discuss other flip out by-passes. As far as i know, JVC and Pioneer all you have to do is ground the park wire and it tricks it into thinking the parking brake is on. I could be wrong though?

Why would you want to bypass? To watch while you drive?

What does it require to do it the right way? If we know how it's different, it might be easier to help you out.

How does it 'specify' to wire it up? There's only two things it can possibly need - to be grounded, or to be fed a +12v signal (or a combination of both).

Basically yes, i want to have the ability to use the playstation to play a movie while the cars in motion. not really for me but for anyone whose in the car or what ever. It has a yellow and blue wire that reads Parking Brake Wire or Parking Brake Signal Line or something along those lines. Does that just need a power source? or am i missing something, i dont really know. I havent really played with it much yet

sounds like its what hyunelan2 said.. gotta ground one wire, then hook the other one up to a powered source

i have the pioneer p8-dvd in dash dvd player. ground the wire to any ground and you can watch porn while you drive. just be careful when you shift your stick. lol
and do us all a favor, do not watch a movie while driving, pay attention so you dont wreck your ride.

Like my Pioneer AVH5700, you'll need to wire a switch inline with that wire. The HU must see the actual "switching" of the "e-brake" to permit that screen to play. I have to reset the switch everytime I restart my car, etc.
I tried hooking the wire up directly to ground, however, the unit would not show the DVD, all you could do was listen. It HAS to "SEE" the switching taking place, i.e lifting e-brake or flicking switch.

Well this isn't going to apply to you but I'm only telling you because there might be some option like this available for your unit.
With the Pioneer Avic N1, all you had to do was ground the wire to any ground and you were able to do everything while the car was in motion.
With the Avic N2, this option no longer worked and still required that your e-brakes be on.
At first this made the N1 a more sought after unit, but eventually they figured out that in order to bypass, there were too points on the board that needed to be connected. You could either solder point A to point B, or if you were not comfortable with a solder, there was some sort of pen sold at Radio Shack where you would trace between Point A and Point B and this would also create the connection.
I would assume that with many units, there is some sort of bypass that was originally created for testers/designers in mind and disabled in production. Otherwise, it would be a hassle for those people to do their work.

I'm thinking BColeman's case applies most to me. So i put a switch inline with the "cut off" wire and just connect the other end to a power source of what? any voltage? does it make a difference? I do feel like i'm getting some where with this thread, i thank you all so far!

ok so just as an update, i got the tv working in full! it came out awsome. I was frustrated as all hell after i attached the park brake wire to the hand brake and it didnt work... but i went to sound tracks and asked a few questions and asked if i was missing something because i had to be. I couldnt come to any other conclusion and they found me the Alpine Guy and he said theres a Yellow/Black wire that has to be hooked up too. Not just a Yellow/Blue one. So i go, "yeah, there is a Yllw/Blk but it wasnt labeled" so the guy says, theres a reason for that. So people dont know how to trick it. So he tells me hook it to a brake light, its easy as anything then tells me how to trick it. So the TV gets hooked up and works, tricked and all BUT... yes there is a but. There's some ground interference. not ground noise, well theres ground noise too but theres ground interference. Small lines scroll through the picture while playing a game or watching a movie. I got some better RCA's and i'm going to hook the playstation directly to the tv and my deck instead of running a separate set to a coupler and i bought a ground noise isolater and i'm also going to ground the deck straight to the battery and see if that helps elimiate some of the ground crap. Any thoughts after that long and boring story?

No matter what they try, there is always a way around it. ;)

Well as another update, i figured out the interference. After 2 weeks of fighting with the damn thing i've finally realized that the interference is being caused by the power inverter. So i tried hard wiring it straight to the battery too see if it cleared up but no luck. Any Suggestions?

you need a filter for tha AC line. like one of the small ones that goes on a phone.

I will be trying another inverter. By any suggestions i was really looking for, does anyone have an suggestions as to a good inverter that doesnt cause interference. The AC line filter intrigues me as well. I'm not sure what your talking about but i probably do know already and just dont realize it. Got a link to one menallychllngd?

something along those lines. can't find a single outlet one right now but i have seen them. check a radio shack.
the idea is clean power.
