i hate to beat a dead horse but i need some help here. i have a great deal ined up on some new 17" rims with 42mm offset and falken ze512's in 215/45/17 will they rub on my stock 2002 elantra GT i would hate to pass up on this deal but i also don't want tires rubbing.with the crappy roads here in wpg. i have read that 205/40/17 's are terrible with no give in the sidewall and bent rims is this true??most tire wheel pkgs on the net all come with 40 aspect ratio[cheaper tire] i guess

They won't rub unless you have alot of junk in the trunk and go over bumps...

once you lower it, you're done for.

The best choise is 205/45R17s. period.

^ why do you do that??? he will not be done for...you will just need some negative camber to offset the extra width...you will be fine with whatever set up you have...if you had 40mm...than there could be a prob...but with 42 you'll be just fine!

You should be perfectly fine with those wheels and tires. Like I've said in a few previous posts, after switching to the Falken Ziex 512 in 215/45/17, I no longer had any rubbing issues. My wheels are 17x7.5 with a 43+mm offset.

Here's a pic of my 17x7 +42 offset w/ 215/45 & -0.7 deg camber. It's not close to rubbing.

I rubbed a little with mine BUT I had a 38mm offset. Even camber adjustments didn't quite fir it. With a friends set of 40mm offset 17x7's I cleared.

You'll be fine. 205/45's are for wimps! lol
