Anyone ever try and mod the doors on the front of a GLS to accept 6.5" speakers? I'm trying to put in some cadence 6.5" components.

Got 'em in mine. I cut the oe speaker out of the factory bracket and usedthat. It's worked quite well for 3 years or so.

i hate to double post, cause i put this in the diy section, and esp cause im a n00b to the forum and will prolly easily get chewed out heh., but is there anyone out there that has a template for the speaker adapter? i have like no tools at home and very little free time.. but if i had a template i could just cut it at work and take it home and do the install at home n/p, I just need an outline of the factory sizeing so i could cut it out, ill measure my speakers and that cut will be n/p.
If no one puts one up, when i get around to gettin mine in (who knows when) maybe ill see what i can do as far as takin pics and puttin up the measurments so one could be easily made before takin the panels off..

hey dude, you are about a month too late! I had an extra pair that I sent free to Gustav, send him a PM, maybe he will part with them.

and.....

Didn't you mention you were going to get some adaptors from Crutchfield? I ordered a set of comps from them and they sent the adaptors for free (Soche brand). They work GREAT! Check 'em out.

mlrman, dood Which adapters did you get?? can you link me? i did the what car do you have and did the elantra, but i only got 1 result and EVERYONE gave it bad reviews.. maybe there all dummys or the adapters all fit there cars crappy but fit elantras.. either way, if you liked yours i wanna make sure i get the same ones!

and kizzo i would SO normally do that, but i just bagged my old car and since i ripped the old speakers to shreds they knocked cash off my trade in.. can you belive that they actually checked !?!?! wtf! so just cause of that i wanna keep all the factory stuff in 100% working order and good condition just box it all and store it- Thanks though

I didn't see them listed either, but they sent them FREE with my speakers.

here's the deal...I buy from ebay and wherever I can find a sweet deal, HOWEVER there is a time to pay the extra money for that service and "little extras". That's why I bought my speakers from Crutchfield, cuz I knew the size would be different than stock, and they would support me with the install.

the adaptors were Soche brand, and here is the part number: a42 sac 656

give them a call....I can't imagine they wouldn't sell them outright.

or go ghetto style, like Kizzo. make sure they are tightly mounted, you'll never see em anyway.

good luck, bro
