i went with Falken Grb Fk451...just under 500 for mount and balance...280 treadwear and AA for traction and A for temp...should be a nice tire... :D

280 Thread wear is horrible, they will wear out fast

my toyo's were 300 and they lasted awhile...almost a whole year...and thats driving for a living on them...we shall see.

Lol almost a whole year is horrible compared to other all season performance tires that can last a couple... unless that much wear is due to drags and racing?

did you happen to catch the vid of my road??? thats what kills my tires and brakes...oh and putting excessive amounts of mileage on them...the toyos i probably put a good 20k on them...for the way i drive...its nto too bad. i think i may have to be a little bit more conservative with my camber though...there was definetly wear from the camber...the fronts were set up at -1degree and the rear was set up for -1.2 degrees. it just may be the cornering i do...because the driver side rear was fine...but the front passenger side checkout a long time ago! i guess i take left turns a lot quicker than rights...but in the vid you can see that the lefts are more brutal than the rights.. :D

on a side note...i guess i could just slow down  nah! :D too much fun

yeah, i go thru tires quick too. i bought some 1 year ago, ran them in the summer and fall and put about 12k miles on them and they dont have much left. i like to push my car every day i drive it so im always taking turns fast, flooring it from the light, etc. i only expect these kuhmos i just got to last til next spring at the latest.

but to be sure the treadwear will tell you how long the tire will last correct?? because the shop was telling me that it depends on the speed rating...which i know has something to do with it...but the treadwear is the direct correlation with how long it should last right??? the guy there was like..."to be hones i dont know what that means." i cant wait to do **** myself!! and nto have to depend on morons!

Its fairly simple since now adays all you need is a balancers and mounting machine and air pressure... as of now i just do my balancing and swapping myself but one day i plan to get my own mounting/balancing machines so that i don't have to worry about some idiots scratching my rims or not knowing how to use the right torque... only prob is that those machines can range in the thousands depending on the year...

yup and thats why there are only a hanful of people that have them....

The treadwear rating is just a comparitive scale that's not 100% reliable. But basically the higher the treadwear, the longer a tire will last. Many high performance all-season tires will be above 400. And then there are plenty of lesser-performance oriented all seasons with over 600 treadwear.

But it's pretty typical for a summer tire to have a treadwear of 300 or lower.

There's also another correlation which isn't 100% accurate but typically the lower the treadwear the softer/stickier the rubber is. That's why the better performing tires have a lower treadwear.

With a treadwear of 280, you could reasonably expect the tires to last 20k miles of daily driving assuming you keep your car aligned and don't lay down too much tread through the twisties. ;)

Well it doesn't sound like he knew what he was talking about.

Here's a good explanation:
Tread life considerations: What's your idea of how long a set of tires should last? Keep in mind that in some instances, a tire's wear rating is done through manufacturer testing and may not be the most accurate representation of a tire's true life expectancy. One way to get a handle on a tire's projected life expectancy (besides what they're warranted for, say, 40,000 miles for example) is to look at part of the UTQG (Uniform Tire Quality Grading) rating. The U.S. Department of Transportation requires each manufacturer to grade its tires under the UTQG labeling system and establish ratings for tread wear, traction and temperature resistance. These tests are conducted independently by each manufacturer following government guidelines to assign values that represent a comparison between the tested tire and a control tire. While traction and temperature resistance ratings are specific performance levels, the tread wear ratings are assigned by the manufacturers following field testing and are most accurate when comparing tires of the same brand. Tread wear receives a comparative rating based on wear rate of the tire in field testing following a government specified course. For example, a tire grade of 150 wears 50 percent longer than a tire graded 100. Actual performance of the tire can vary significantly depending on conditions, but the tire's UTQG tread life number can help you get in the ballpark as to how long a tire will really last.

So the tires I ordered with a 200 treadwear probably won't last that long huh? Good call on the Falkens. I am now a Falken leghumper.

jrod, I think you got the falken Azenis RT615 ... if so your treadwear is going to be worse than his.

Yeah. Monday or Tuesday is the expected day of arrival. I looked at the 451's too, but I was dead set on getting the RT615's so I wasn't about to settle for anything less.
