anyone know anyone who has them? i had someone on another forum say something about them. i looked at their site http://www.compustar.org/security_with_remote_start.htm and im seeing one way and 2 way remotes. what is the difference? is the 2 way the one that the remote will show you if the alarm has went off?

im looking for something with a somewhat small remote as i dont want to carry a big wad of crap on a keychain.

anyone have any other suggestions on an alarm? main reason for looking into it now is because im moving soon and the main thing driving me away from some cheap places is my car getting broken into. if they steal it, fine, i can get a new car. but if i wake up and find my car broken into, that would piss me off more than if it was stolen.

We used to sell them at our store a few years ago. They have incredible range but I hated installing them and they way they operated. If you want to get a good 2-way remote system I would look into the Shelby CS-750R system. Shelby just came out with a module and program for cell phones that will make your phone a actual 2 way remote and pager. You will be able to do everything from your phone that you can do from the actual alarm remote. It will also call you if someone sets off the alarm. It does cost $100 a year for the service though. I have one in my Elantra and really like it so far. Once you have a two-way paging alarm I don't see how you can own anything but again.

im not looking to spend 100$/yr for something like that. i just need a basic but good alarm system to keep wanna be ghetto kids away from my car

Well you don't have to buy the Cell phone service part, its just a good upgrade/feature. The alarm will still work as a two way paging alarm through the remote fob.

Yes that is the system. It really depends on the shop what the price will be for the install. Our store charges $335 for the complete system installed but we have been known to be on the high side. I am sure you can get someone to install it for less than $100 in your Elantra since its an easy install in our cars.

called a shop that is compustar cerified, one way pager system and install is like 425$, then for an upgrade to a 2 way remote is another 160-200$ ouch.

Trust me they aren't worth it anyway.
